As regards the Barn Owl, and your Cat, yes it probably COULD 'take' it.... except Owls don't normally hunt cats! Where about do you live, it's clearly quite Rural.

We live on the Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire border, in the middle of nowhere. I'm aware owls rarely take cats, or I'd never let our cat out the house. I was just joking.
