Wednesday I was getting blood drawn for my functional doctor at Labcorp and the lab tech stuck the needle in my arm, when she did, I had a giant electrical shock of pain go down through my arm into my wrist. I audibly said "oh shit!" And she asked if I wanted her to take it out, of course I said yes. She said it hit the vein...Pain subsided and I went about my day. Thursday I woke up and now everytime I straighten my arm out, I get a huge electric shock of pain in my wrist. Feels like someone is snapping a rubberband on me really hard. It is not Saturday and the pain is not gone. I am very worried about this. My PCP prescribed Gabapentin which I do not really want to take. Plus it's for night time and that's not when i have pain the most. She also said exercise it. My PT told me the nerve is aggravated probably & to ice it. Has anyone else been through this? When did it go away? What did you do to help the pain?

Anyone have nerve pain after blood being drawn?
I'm not sure anything can be done to hasten the healing after hitting a nerve apart from waiting for the damage to heal and taking pain killers. My bruising and nerve pain has lasted 2-3 weeks
I'm not needle phobic but had some nasty 'hits' (I'm always told my veins are thin & 'difficult')...….the worst one was from a anaesthetist who was rushing to insert a catheter. A nurse took over, inserting one in my other arm painlessly, but the damage was already done. Ice will ease the pain temporarily, mainly by numbing the area. Hope it calms down soon.... x
Hi there,
I use Gabapentin. I take it 3 times a day and300 mg. It helps with my head pain. I have had very bad head pain since they did my gamma knife. The pain is because they did not support my neck not the GK. Sorry for the detour. I have been on Gabapentin for about 2 -3 years. I went off of it and was doing nothing but laying on the couch. I use to take 600mg. 3 times a day but realized it was the same effect as 300 so why take more meds then you need. I will say at first you may feel more tired so with it being at night might be better for you. Make sure if decide not to keep taking it you taper off.
If you have any questions I can help with feel free to private message me. Hope it helps you!
