Cooking with the Baron(ess) Part 2
Yummy ! I have a weakness for fruit crumble & custard but never had it with ice cream.……. ; looks mouth-wateringly good 😋 x
It was bloody gorgeous!! 😁
I'm supposed to be dieting, but talking about (and SEEING) temptation has sent me ripping open a box of Black-Magic which I've managed to resist since Mother's day ! 😏
How's your mum coping …..presumably isolating ? Hope she's managing ok... x
You little devil!! 😀
Mum is doing ok, obviously totally isolated but coping all right so far. I'll pop round later in the week and drop off some bits for her and have a chat across the garden. Shouldn't really, but she's still quite 'raw' and it will give her a boost.
Good lad. I've wondered whether she's been feeling cut off...…. keeping in touch with people living alone is all about common sense isn't it.
We know there are strict instructions not to visit anyone we don't live with (I guess it's a black & white rule to avoid broad interpretations) but sticking to 2.5metres distance outdoors if it's a nice day is what we've done on Fridays when Ken comes for an hour. On cold or wet days he stays away, and Helen & I stick to phone conversations as she and my grandson are also in isolation.
On a lighter note, I listened to an item earlier about how difficult it is for people having affairs as they can't use 'off to the gym' or visiting a friend or elderly parent as cover ! ….Wot ? 🥴
Yeah, I heard that! We were chatting yesterday about what we'd have done had we still been 'dating'. It would have been a bit of a struggle, particularly if this does go on for the rumoured six months...
Yes it's a problem. Helen & partner live separately and she won't take any chances now she's working from home and isolating with my grandson, so they only talk on phone or online...… testing times indeed.
And my grandson isn't getting to see his dad at weekends so, all in all, a recipe for tearing the hair out (of each other soon perhaps). 😧
It's a trying time for everyone, I think. It really has brought the worst out in people though. Selfishness is alive and kicking.
I agree ; it's horrible the way people are abusing hospital staff ; swearing and spitting at them when they're working long shifts and putting themselves at risk with no protection. Without them we'd be in desperate straits.
And shop-workers are being verbally attacked for the distance measures, when all I've found are good people doing a vital service.
I asked an assistant in Tesco about hand-gel and she looked in the back in case more stock had come in, but couldn't find any. 10 minutes later she came looking for me, half way across the store, with a bottle of gel !
Then I got through the checkout to find I'd left my purse in the car. The checkout operator said he was closing but he'd wait for me to go down to the car & back. But then security workers on the door, refused me re-entry as it was near closing time.
Meanwhile, my hero checkout guy, sensing I might have a problem, had come down the escalator to the entrance to rescue me and he escorted me back up to the store. I was SO impressed by his patience and kind words and, all in all, drove home feeling pretty pampered !
At the risk of droning on, I get pretty angry about some people's selfishness and stupidity, but then I see how thousands of volunteers are backing up the doctors & nurses …….and I could cry with gratitude and admiration. x
