A few of you will be aware of the epic struggle I had getting assessed for PIP (see previous posts). My assessment ended up being a paper assessment and today the decision came through the post. I have been awarded the standard rate for living needs. I've read through it and it seems to be spot on with all the categories.
I must say that the application forms initially were filled out by the CAB where they recognised aspects of myself that I had no clue about and probably made a difference. Secondly I also went to my MP's office to begin a complaint process, this was going to start if PIP was not awarded. It was surprising how quickly Capita got off their arses to sort their mess out after I told them about the MP.
So the lesson I learn't is to get formal forms filled out by people who know what they are doing and if you get messed around and you know you are right and have all the facts complain, complain and complain again and finally get your MP involved if they still treat you badly.
Great news for you! Your advice is spot on. I only got my local social services to get me a social worker (so I could get funding to attend my local Headway group,) by getting my MP involved. My MP said to me, 'It's amazing the effect it can have when a letter is sent on House of Commons headed notepaper.' He was right!
That's awesome!!! I'm super pleased for you. Well done! It's hard enough fighting the dysfunctional system for my mum, I can only imagine (if I had to do it for myself) the torture it has been for you fighting them for yourself! They make everything so difficult that the only thing you can take away from the process is that they want you to quit trying. Well done!! 👊💪
