Please help - crisis point. Recommendations palliative + mental health care

Recommendations palliative + mental health care.

Dad had his 2nd stroke which (along with a history of mental health issue) has meant that he's unable to control his emotions. Thankfully, now we have one-to-one care his frustrations are carried out on furniture and not people.

He was is hospital (has hospital stress), got him home for about 8hrs before he was back in hospital. He's in the same care home as mum - this is no longer appropriate (too much danger & stress for both)- things were manageable until his brother + sister came to visit and since then we have implemented the one to one but even then home are struggling. They (bless them) are anxious not to discharge him until they know he is going somewhere suitable.

Any ideas as to a place than can have a secure outside space (he walked a lot/relieve cabin fever) - mental health grade nursing care and experience in cancer/end of life (not diagnosed but damn sure).

At this point we are desperate and only want best care - don't care what part of country it is. I'm in North and Kate South.

He's already under Herts county council referrals so if we can keep him local then hopefully there will be some continuity.

Any suggestions however small that we can pursue please say

Dear Georgelovesjumping,

What a 'quandary' you are in....I'm Racking my Brains....I'm sorry if this is Obvious or Teaching Grandma To Suck Eggs but....Have you tried actually 'speaking' to his current Care Team, or the Hospital? You, almost certainly HAVE, but I thought that I'd just 'ask' anyway. That said you have, no doubt, tried asking at your/ his GP's and, any Day Centres, that he attends- used to attend. You have also asked the Citizens Advice Bureaux, Stroke Organisations/ Associations/ Day Centres in your area. Presumably you have left a Contact Number, with ALL these Groups, and made an 'On Line Search', specific to, your area. I assume you have left your 'Details', along with a Contact Number at the local Library- maybe asked for a Card/ Notice to be placed. Incidentally if you HAVEN'T done ALL these 'things', I would Now- if I were you.

Beyond, all of this, I'm at a 'Bit of a Loss', as to, quite what to suggest....SORRY.

I hope that I Might have been 'some help' anyway.

Happy New Year 2020
