Traumatic Brain Injury
Hi Sasha and welcome. When you're ready maybe you'll share some details of your injury & treatment and how you've been coping with the after effects. I see you've have RRMS for many years, so no stranger to chronic illness.
Hope to see you again soon... Cat x
Fell while standing on a concrete pavement twice (hit my ear on #1, stood there and fell straight backwards without trying to stop myself on #2). Damaged my frontal lobe. It was a Traumatic Brain Injury. Doctors couldn't find any reason for the falls. No MS, stroke etc. reason. They looked. While in hospital I had an episode of Guillian-Barre (don't know where that came from). I'm an overachiever. Unemployed and on Federal Workers Compensation now because it happened while on a business trip. I have gone through many Physical/Occupational/Speech Therapy sessions since. No Meds for this since leaving the hospital.
It's hard establishing the causes for such random issues. My 'falling' problem began after a brain haemorrhage, so an obvious connection, but none of the specialists I've seen can pinpoint the cause and no meds have helped.
I'm assuming you've also experienced certain after- effects from your brain injury, such as fatigue, memory issues, heightened emotions etc ? These, and other symptoms, are shared by most of us here, whether resulting from natural causes or accidental injury.
It seems the norm, universally, to be discharged with no aftercare or special medication. And, at around the 3year mark, you'll be reaching an equilibrium in your recovery, so stay around to compare notes, stories and occasional humour with others here. x
