I haven’t posted on here for so long. I had so many set backs. Now it seems physically things are ok e.g my head plate seems to be ok, even though I have a huge dint line across my forehead which distresses me. I’m back at work. They are being very good at making sure things are in place for me. On the outside I look to everyone like I have overcome this tbi. But unfortunately, on the inside, I feel like I am having some sort of nervous breakdown. It’s too complicated to explain on here, but psychologically I know I am far from ok. And I don’t know what to do about it ☹️

I think the healing of physical scars is misinterpreted by many, who believe that this means everything is 'fixed'. Personally, I don't blame people for their ignorance, because they are only replicating what the world views as unwell v well again.
My dreadful short term memory and fatigue are the means by which I can empathise with your situation, quite different to psychological issues, but, because they are both outside the 'common sense' view of illness, they need a different approach, but one that shows as much understanding as any physical issue.
Without knowing if you have friends or relatives to support you, I cannot offer anything too specific, but I would say if there is someone you can trust above anyone else, it may be worth simply telling them that you feel you need help. Even sharing this level of information is, of course, entirely dependant on you feeling able to do so, but if you needed physical care, I'm sure you wouldn't think long and hard before seeking it out and perhaps you need to see if you feel the same way about something which can be equally disabling.
If your employers are not as clued up about mental well being in the workplace as they should be, it is up to them to become so. You should never feel in a position where you can't air an issue because your employer lacks the knowledge to deal with it. They have a responsibility towards you as an employee and however awkward it may feel to ask for help, if you yourself have identified there is an issue, then it up to them to deal with it, via qualified practitioners, or those directly responsible for your well being in the workplace.
I wish you well and hope you find the help you feel you need.
I have a group I go on and type my worries out and always come away laughing as they know what I mean and understand me xxx Good luck Gina xxxx
Hi Gina, a psychologist that specialises in trauma may help you to understand why you are feeling this way. And hopefully provide strategies to address the inner conflict. The indent across your forehead mirrors your psychic scar. I empathise with you.
A side note...ensure that you consult with a trauma based psychologist only. A generic clinical psychologist simply does not have the specialist skills required to address your concerns which can be resolved.
