I am brand new here. I had an MRI without contrast yesterday afternoon. Afterwords I was in so much pain I sincerely thought I was going to pass out. My spine and skull were aching along with my hips and my guts. I GI system shut down, there was no movement. I thought it was just me freaking out right, anxiety or something. While I was having the test I could feel bubbles in my abdomen and up my leg. The MRI was of my shin and ankle. My feet were burning. Today I have a fever of 104 with a clean MRI from yesterday. My spine and neck ache. The doctor suggested the possibility of having the flu and the coincidence of the MRI but I felt fine before the MRI. I have a hard history of physical and sexual abuse because I was sold into human trafficking when I was 15 months old. I have been out almost 4 years. During that time I was sold to ameture scientific groups and they did a lot of bad stuff to my body. What I am trying to find is a link from the MRI and my past, and right now. Is it possible that this is all body memory? If so, where can I find any information on this? My body is hot to the touch. I have been surrounding myself with ice and resting. Still searching for some answers.

MRI Symptoms in conjunction with PTSD
Hello
Had to Google body memory and the info is that only the brain can store memory.
Sounds like you have had an horrific past and I am sure it will take time for you to come to terms with that. I hope you are being given a lot of medical and therapy support.
You may have a virus of some kind causing you to feel overheated.
Have you tried using a fan?
I wish you all the best.
Their is such thing as muscle memory, I wonder if she meant that.
That's awful what has happened to you..
Your body is hot to touch, you mean your skin feels hot?
Yes
My skin is similar, it feels hot sometimes but its down to a trapped nerve in my neck.
Tell me more about that please. It felt like the heat was radiating from my spine in lots of places. Maybe the vibrations bothered the nerves in my spine? I did mean muscle memory, btw😉
I knew you meant muscle memory,
I have burning feeling on my shoulders, arms and leg ..the trapped nerve sends the wrong signals to my brain, its confused I think.
With an MRI might it be possible for that heat to spread? My entire body is very warm now like big fever but it was way high, got up to just over 105. Now I'm back at 102.2
The doctor thinks maybe it kicked up some flu stuff.... Maybe?
The doctor would know more about it than me, I cant see an mri making it worse, so maybe the doctor is right?
Speaking of never damage, vibrations effect that yes?
yes I think vibrations effect mine, gives me pain.
Then it stands to reason it could be that. But you know what it could be both lol. I appreciate your responses. You have been very kind
yes it could be both or one or the other lol
you are welcome, keep in touch.
Bri, with your troubled history I'm wondering what treatment you've managed to access. Is anyone attempting to identify psychological issues and working out which of your physical symptoms might be resulting from the traumas and which might be organic.
With no knowledge of your medical history I'm guessing that the claustrophobic nature off the MRI could have triggered emotions from your past...………... the common denominator being feelings of entrapment ?
I hope you're getting the help you need m'dear. Are you in the UK ?
Regards, Cat...
Hi Cat! I appreciate your comment and I wanna answer some of the questions for you. I have had mental health talk therapy using EMDR. It was wonderful and I will be getting back into it here in the near future. I have been properly diagnosed and I now have a group online on a social media service full of people that also have similar experiences as mine. it is a wonderful support for all involved. I recently was able to contact my kin and find out what familial health issues belong in my blood line. That was a major help in working with 'organic' health problems and then the rest. You are spot on when you mention the claustrophobic nature of the MRI. Oh my giddy aunt that was sincerely anxiety triggering to be sure. I failed to mention before (at least I think I did) that I have also been through chemo for leukemia, and after doing some further research an article that speaks about how vibration frequencies can agitate a musculoskeletal system in ways that beyond the norm for individuals that have bone issues. I also have been bashed quite a bit with brute force and therefore the fact that I can stand and speak coherently is pretty amazing. This is a portion of the article that I found - "There is a tendency toward a greater incidence of complaints as exposure increases. Vibration affects the spine by exciting a 4-6-Hz resonance that is related to the biologic "soft spring" between S-1 and the seat. The muscle nerves fire sequentially under vibration and fatigue." that can be found here ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/153... It is a great read and explains a lot about what I was trying to find. Now my spine is calming down, and my body temp is back to normal. All my muscles surrounding my spine are fatigued and so very sore...but this is a much less intense pain so I thank the good Lord for that. I appreciate your reply to my post and wish you the very best. I was in the UK for a while, I am not in the states.
I meant I am now in the states.
Have you undertaken any nerve induction studies Bri ? I can't imagine how an MRI's vibrations can cause the after-effects you've described. I know the dyes can cause side effects but, with regard to your symptoms, I gather it's severe and prolonged vibration (over many years) which can cause disc and nerve damage.
So I'd be looking at other possible culprits (such as your past physical abuse) the effects of which might have been re-triggered in your brain by the closed-in experience of the MRI, rather than its minimal vibration. But guesswork isn't an answer and diagnosis of such complex health issues has to come from healthcare specialists of course.
I hope with more investigations and time you'll find relief and peace from these troublesome issues. All best wishes, Cat x
All the best from across the pond ❤️
Hiya LittleBribri
Last MRI scan I had I ended up with swelling above my eye and on the back of my head, I didn’t even know an MRI could cause this and ended up in A+E a bit concerned. A neurologist explained it to me and within a few days the swelling went away I also had bad headaches. I had no idea an MRI could affect the body/head in such a way 🤔
Do you remember what he explained? I would be very interested in the details
My MRI was of my ankle. My shoulders didn't ever get in the small space.... However, with the swelling and discomfort (that word isn't even close to what this has been) I am curious even more now. I think what happened is that it aggravated my spine and don't nerves were upset. The swelling is still here in my jaw, my neck, and my ears. All my joints in my spine are warm and it feels like hot pokers are randomly being pressed into it. I'm resting and icing my spine and it's helping. Slow, but still helping. I will be having my spine checked out this week. I understand PTSD and psychological issues very well and physical issues, while connected, aren't always the cause of pain. Our minds at every powerful and the more information I have the better decisions I can make for myself. Thank you so much for responding. I appreciate you
