Experience: I woke up from a coma speaking French

When I was in rehab a guy there spoke in German and he was from Bristol!

Really? Was it fluent spoken French such that a native could converse with you? And could you not speak before? My guess is that you had heard french and subconsciously recorded it. When you awoke it surfaced and you 'repeated' it.

In my coma delirium it was very fluent and at the time I was speaking French daily so it may have been sort of functional but I doubt it meant very much to anyone.
