Need Medico-legal NPH Neurosurgeon

Due to a GP's failure in duty of care, in failing to read a letter on my file, there was a four year delay in my Hydrocephalus diagnosis. I am taking legal action over this, have a solicitor but require a good Neurosurgeon with medico-legal experience and NPH(Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus) expertise to produce a prognosis report for the court.

Can anyone recommend such a Neurosurgeon or point me somewhere where I might be able to find one?

Thanks for your help.

Mark

Thank you Steve. On your suggestion I've looked, but the BMA are the GP's trade union. They wouldn't want to help someone who is suing one of their members.

If your solicitor is going down the brain injury route, then they should know medical professionals to use. I know of a case and the solicitor has organised any reports with these people themselves.

You're right! Unfortunately, my solicitor hasn't got that knowledge and it's too late and expensive for me to change solicitors at this stage.

Hi Avro

Where are you based? I was cared for at the QE in Birmingham and there are a couple of brilliant Neurosurgeons there. The alternative is for you to see a Neuro privately, as they would be more open to providing and legal reports required.

Sorry I should have said, I'm in Portishead, near Bristol. I will have to pay for the report, I expect it to be a couple of thousand. My solicitor's choice was in Liverpool which is too far for me, that's why I've become involved. Ideally, I want a Neurosurgeon with experience of NPH(Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus). I know two really good ones. Mr Pople and Mr Edward's, but I can't use either as the report has to be from one who isn't known to me.

Thank you,

Mark

Hi again

Can they not refer you to someone? Alternatively, look on the BUPA website.

Hello my lovely,

As a nurse I am disgusted by your GPS lack of professionalism and clear inability to care approximately for individuals in his care. Have you thought about contacting the GMC (General Medical Council)? They are able to destroy a medical professionals career for any risks a patient may face that is due to their poor ability.

I’ll be honest I’m not sure if they would be able to provide details of a good Neurologist but I would definitely try. Also if the good Neurologists that you know only know you in a professional capacity by being involved with your care then I can’t see why that should be an issue.

My Neurologist was very good and obviously I know some good professionals from work. But I’m all the way out in Essex so I’m sorry I can’t be of any help.

I wish you peace, happiness and lots of luck.

Take care

Hi, I’ve just looked on line and there is a Nuffield hospital in Bristol near to you and also a hospital called Spire which has neurologists. Perhaps if they can’t help you they could refer you to some one else near by?

My solicitor found the medical experts I have seen for my legal case. I assumed that was what happened in all cases.

Have you tried phoning the AVMA (they advise people who have suffered because of medical 'accidents',) or you could look at the General Medical Council website.

I sincerely hope you find what you are looking for.
