Hi it saddens me to see yet again Hydrocephalus isn’t mentioned in the topics to choose from. I have NPH which is the dementia form of it yet it’s mot mentioned anywhere.

It’s extremely debilitating affects cognitive skills, walking and very poor memory making weight loss extremely hard.

Hi Suuex.

I fear it is impossible to list all diagnosis in topics. Although your symptoms cover a range of b.I. conditions.

If you are needing specific help with your condition it may help to write your condition in your heading each time.

I hope this makes sense ( I have been sat an hour thinking how to explain what I mean ).

Also because of shared problems over various conditions it is sometimes easier just to list what you need advice/ help with.

This is just my thoughts on your problem. Hopefully an administrator may shed more light on this.

Suuex, if you type Hydrocephalus in the search box (top right hand corner) you'll see posts from others. One lady is asking to talk to others with the condition.

Headway covers all types of brain injury, including Hydrocephalus, so I imagine that's why it isn't covered separately. Please phone the helpline on 0808 800 2244 (free calls-office hours) for further information on your condition.

best wishes, Cat x

Hi I am a 47 woman and I 2 have Hydrocephalus that I was born with and lived with and apart from the occasional seizure all my life. It is a hidden disability that I have been able to lead a fairly 'normal' life with up until the last few years.

I am now suffering the disabiliating effects of this condition and have taken ill health retirement from my staff nurse role. It would be good to talk to you if you want some venting or just a chat. Kate 😀

Hi Suuex I know that feeling I lasted as long as I could working the minimum hours and mainly night shifts which were quieter. But the nail in my working life coffin was the change from 7.5 to 12.5 hour shifts which were to long both physically and mentally to cope with and I made a few errors(I thankfully gave up before any serious mistakes occurred!) I have been awarded my ill health pension have you? I am now glad I gave it all up and can get on with the rest of my life...

I guess healthunlocked/Headway made the call that in terms of topics to list when making a post and listed to the right that there is no point in listing the individual conditions be that a one of the various bleeds or pressure ie Tumors and Hydrocephalus or stuff like lack of oxygen the list goes on.

On the whole you see the whole range of symptoms from every condition, I’ve tended to feel the cause wasn’t really of much interest more the conditions after. In other words they are all part of brain injury family as you where!

Yea we all end up with the same symptoms whatever the primary cause of our brain injury! Brain damage is brain damage! But it seems that we are an independent bunch and don't give up on life easily...

We certainly do push ourselves. How does the hydro affect yourself. Have you heard of Shine Charity

Hi again! When I was younger it didn't really affect me at all apart from the occasional seizure no one knew I had it and I lived 'normally'. But as I have got older after having my daughter things have deteriorated, I am now virtually housebound and rely heavily on my family as I am no longer independent and cannot work. What about you?

I am 47 and led a shunt free life until last year so I suppose I should be grateful for all I have been able to achieve. My husband reminds of the same when I am having a bad day! 😀
