I'm glad I'm not the only one finds it a nightmare to book a appointment, our local news has publicly displayed the GP surgery reviews for every surgery, this is why I try and avoid going like the plaque which is wrong and mine is malago an BS1 surgery as they are sister surgeries:

It’s the same where I live in Scotland . Too many people in the village and a surgery which serves two towns . By the time you do get an appointment you are probably feeling better . It’s a bone of contention every where .😞
My docs are great. I'm lucky to have mine. 💖
My understanding is that many GP practice, work on 2 weeks for a appointment, this is because many illnesses will be resolved by then. I suspect this has come from all those people who visit their GP because of a cold asking for antibiotics.
Then the surgery has a note saying X number failed to attend their appointment, last month, what a surprise.
At my surgery if the matter is more urgent, you're expected to explain confidential matters, to the receptionist, in front of patients waiting their turn.
When you do manage to sit in front of a GP, normally it's time limited to 7 minutes.
If your missed a recent Horizon programme, it showed giving more time = better outcomes.
My last appointment was a call in and the GP asked why I was there, clueless.
I had a bust up with my original named GP and now refuse to see her, as her professional opinion "There's nothing wrong with you". The other GPs are either better doctors, or they're afraid of me.
Must admit my doctors are great.
Getting to see him/ her on the other hand is another matter.
Once you have battled the receptionist, who despite not having years of medical training, seems to have a wide medical knowledge you are then told that the first appointment is in 3 weeks. This dispute the go asking you to make an appointment to see them in a weeks time.
Yes I know they work long hours and people miss appointments but 3 weeks !!!!
Earlier this year the receptionist "diagnosed" I had a cold. Even though I was finding it hard to breath. I took the 3 week appointment but the following day was rushed to our local walk in center with what turned out to be pneumonia.
I then received a letter from my go asking why I had I attended the walk in centre and not my go's. Apparently they had received an angry letter from the NHS trust about my visit.
Once again my gp's are great. They actually listen and yes the appointments over run their time but that proves they take time to evaluate you properly.
What's the answer? More doctors? A triage ( think that's how it's spelled) system.?
Maybe a government that cares about the NHS. Personally I am not bothered which party it is so long as they do something positive.

I had to explain to the receptionist I was lactating but I wasn't pregnant when I first starting having side effects and she asked me what that was, I was see by 2 other doctors who had no idea what was going on, I was reffered to the hormone department who couldn't understand why I was there then I saw the senior gp and he took me serious so all I say now when I ask for a appointment I swear they've been told to say 2 weeks as a defaulf answer but when they want to know whats wrong I said its to do with my sevrve tbi and I get given a appointment the with a few hours no questions asked and I left thinking but you told me mins ago you had no appointments #boycottgps
