My manager has atlast said the words ive been waiting to hear; I need training in how to deal with your disability and I told him that I did pass headway Bristol details on the disable employee group chair to get hold of them as they have offered to training and he said he will chase them to get hold of them to arrange.

I think I just going to cry with relief for a bit.

Hi Bexx, that's brilliant news, should be compulsory for all Management to undergo Mental health training(Including TBI) Very pleased for you - that will help you enormously.

Best wishes

Dave

Hi Dave, yes he has asked to go on that as well as for general mental health (like depression and anxiety and a few other) but he has also specifically request brain injury training as for me its all linked

Just a wee story to add about my work, I submitted my MRI scans , psychiatric report to manager and was given light duties for 'one week' after that my workload increased enormously and of course I went down and was off work until I had to take early retirement. During my spell off I got my full time union rep to phone my Manager to set up a meeting,. Management started phoning every day being very nice, asking what meeting was about - I kept mum. HR senior manager, my Manager (very nervous),me and Union rep had meeting, all I asked for was early retirement which was granted but heard HR gave manager a right doing(they thought I was going to take them to tribunal)

It seems to have helped my colleagues still working as Stress in the workplace is a major topic now, being dealt with in a sympathetic manner.

Just think more Managers need proper training as productivity seems more important than staff health in lots of workplaces.

That's my tuppence worth

Take care

Dave

like i said its taken him a year to get to this stage and I think its a combination of HR reminding him that his has a duty of care to his disabled staff member and the disable employee group chair keep a watchful observation eye on him to she can lunge at will if he steps out of place

Good for you. I hope that your manager will listen more. Mental health is so important. I was working in a school and heard staff laughing about a patient who run from the hospital. I tell them that is a mental hospital and I the mad one not the patient who suffer mental health 😠. I love to be working. Now I waiting for ill retirement. Nobody help me to understand it. My headway group is not good and I never trust them to to help me. 😕
