ive Posted about how stupid the health and safety rules are now with I think anything. The BI group I go to has made big deal out of health and safety. It started weeks back when the man who runs group insisted I put gloves on to hammer a nail in. Completely pathetic but cos of health and safety laws they have to insist people take right precautions. I have managed to get the man to agree it’s stupid but he still needs to put it into place to avoid anyone trying to sue. So I started pointing out when he didn’t have gloves on when he should. Then it went one further I needed to tell EVERYONE which I went along with. Now they have gone further still and got me a luminous vest with my name and health and safety officer on.
At the moment I could do with getting some job no idea what not worked for years no idea how I’d manage working so getting job at this BI group would be good. I have actually mentioned the idea to the man that runs it and he seems open to the idea obviously when and if a suitable job came up so what is there to lose going along with this health and safety it would likely be something like keeping eye on everyone type of job or at least to start with also for me to keep at something it has to be what I really want to do.

No it all started by accident really. Man who runs group insisted I wore gloves to hit a nail in so I said it was stupid and after many discussions about it he has more or less admitted it is stupid but to cover themselves they need to go along with it because if anyone tried to make a claim for being injured and they hadn’t taken appropriate measures to keep people safe it could mean the charity gets closed down understandably a risk he isn’t willing to take. So from then on more for bit of fun I kept telling him when he needed gloves on so I think that gave him the idea I should be health and safety officer which mean I’m to tell everyone about gloves. Really started as a bit of fun and gone on from that. Seriously how dangerous can an allotment be? The gloves are to avoid people getting splinters from wood I think that says it all really. As things are the health and safety is good way to be doing something when there’s nothing to do.
I have actually been thinking of this since you mentioned it I think it will be a good thing to be and it will show I’m serious about it. Obviously as it has started more as a laugh and gone further it would be up to the charity to pay for me to go on a first aid course which would likely lead to it being a paid job so definitely something I will mention. Thanks for the idea and is there anything else that would be worth mentioning? I have said I need a contract so I know exactly what’s expected of me and rules to follow like if someone refuses to put gloves on which one man does.
Keep up the good impact you're having on the charity. I'm happy you found a path you love. That's purpose, and that alone can keep us going, even in the most difficult of times.
