Hello

How are you all?

I and my daughter Rose was discharged from hospital yesterday.

Only a few hours after being discharged I and a close family friend witnessed one of my best friends called Helen fall 30 ft over a balcony in a public place after she lent back to far without releasing and she is now fighting for her life in a induced and natural coma.

When she fell I and a close family friend tried to grab her hands but it was too late and after she hit the concrete floor I and my close family friend called 999 for an ambulance. Also my family friend ran down to her and gave her lifesaving first aid until the paramedics arrived.

She received severe skull, brain and spinal injuries when she fell.

My 5 year old daughter Rose did not witness my best friend fall because she went straight to nursery after being discharged from hospital.

I will be contacting headway on Monday.

Will keep you all updated.

Ben

Hello HopeforTony

Thank you.

Helen is still fighting for her life but is still fighting.

The family friend who was with me and Helen when she fell 30 ft over the balcony has mentioned it to her church today at her new minster induction service and they will pray that Helen pulls through.

I and now my family friend Lauren are still praying for you, Tony and family and also send all our love including hugs.

Will keep you updated on Helen condition.

Thank you again.

We will keep in touch as soon as there is an update on Helen's condition.

Also we are both pleased to hear that Tony is being weaned off the vent, which is a good sign that he is getting better.

I and my family friend Lauren are still praying for you, Tony and family and also send all our love including hugs.

Hello Hodder. I came on this site because my brother suffered an almost identical accident to your friend Helen. He was working on a roof and fell 30ft backwards on to a concrete floor. Like Helen he has spinal injuries, skull fracture and brain injury. How is Helen doing now?

My brother’s accident was three and a half weeks ago. He was in an induced coma for 5 days or so then began to wake up but had to be kept sedated till they could operate to stabilise his spine. He has since regained consciousness and been taken off the ventilator and can be sat up by his hospital bed being raised at the head. He’s talking but has facial weakness and is angry and confused. I understand he is in the Post-traumatic amnesia stage and came on here to see if people had experience of themselves or their relatives coming out of it. We can only be patient and hope and pray that he does. His spinal injuries look like they are going to mean he won’t walk again. All the very best to Helen.

Hello MoragMcCurdy

Firstly we are so sorry to hear about your brother's fall.

Helen is still in the ICU.

But just before 3pm today Helen opened her eyes for the first time since she fell 30 ft over a balcony a fortnight ago today and Helen was in an induced coma for the first week following the fall.

The doctors were in the process of weaning her of life support when she opened her eyes this afternoon because 2 days ago today she started to breathe unassisted.

Helen is now off life support and awake but has not said anything yet but is responding to YES and NO questions by squeezing our hands including medical staff and blinking.

Doctors have said to us that her spinal injuries are so bad that she will never walk again and knowing Helen she might prove them wrong!!

She fell 30ft backwards over an balcony in a shopping mail whilst she was out shopping with myself and family friend Lauren just hours after myself and my eldest daughter Rose aged 5 were discharged from hospital.

We will keep you updated on Helen's condition.

I. my family friend Lauren and girlfriend Hayley are praying for you and your brother and send all our love including hugs.

Ben, family friend Lauren and girlfriend Hayleyxx
