Honestly James, though I wouldn't wish it on anyone, it's a relief to hear someone else mentioning this issue, I never had a problem with walking or foot pain before my BI but, as soon as I was discharged from hospital, I discovered I couldn't walk far before hobbling in pain (worse in towns/hard pavements but easier on grass).

I've seen neurologists, podiatrists and rheumatologists but the best they can offer are gel insoles and painkillers. There are nerve stimulation machines such as TENS which claim to relieve foot pain temporarily, but the list of conditions you shouldn't have when using one probably rules out most people from using it !

I'm going to revert back to a bowl of warm water with Epsom salts ; it's not a cure, but certainly eases the discomfort for a few hours.

Morning James. I've been diagnosed with " Axonal sensory peripheral neuropathy " last year after passing out many times . What I knew was that I'd had 2 haemorrhages since 1985, and another one last year found after an MRI scan. Possibly caused by the falls last year. I also had an " EMG ( I think that's the name)", that discovered the neuropathy. I don't get any pain, but my balance, tremors and moods are getting me down. Looking at our stories, not all neuropathy is the same. Neuropathy means:- nerve damage. Anyway, James hope they find someway to help us. Good luck. Dave

James I can empathise. What have the docs suggested/what have you tried already? To help with neuropathic pain they often prescribe antidepressants or anti-convulsant meds at a very much lower dose than for the conditions they were intended to treat. Unfortunately they did not work for me - I had a severe allergic reaction to the antidepressants and the anti-convulsants made me feel like a space cadet.

I have tried the TENS approach and it is a great distraction tool but you do need to check with your docs that TENS is safe for you.

Mixing hot and cold applications can help on a temp basis. I hope you find something that works.
