Brain Aneurysm diagnosis one 3mm one 6mm

I have just been diagnosed with two brain aneurysms. I am on a waiting list to see a neurosurgeon. My question is this. I have had an ongoing ear problem and have been left with severe tinnitus which is driving me mad. So now I know about the aneurysms, my headaches and neck aches have become more pronounced which is probably due to my anxiety at this news. I have been reading about them and mine are in a difficult spot for surgery. Can anyone here who has similar story reassure me?

Sorry to hear your news but at least found and hopefully treated, mine ruptured and was treated with coils. It is the rupture that deposits blood on the brain that it's not too keen about. I am not saying it's been an easy journey and have had to contend with many symptoms from the damage, but I'm here and slowly with hard work getting a life back. Life offers us challenges and along that journey are many positives and a re assessment of life, and opportunities perhaps on another path. I wish you the very best ask for help and reassurances from this group just knowing people understand and have gone through similar and care gives us strength.

Thank you! Sorry to hear your's ruptured. I must admit it has been a wake up call for me. I have high blood pressure and high bad cholesterol so will address these now. I may not go the surgery route just watch and monitor but will see what the neurosurgeon says. Every good wish to you xx

Sorting both those things is fundamental the less pressure in the arteries takes some strain off them if you have an annurism then it's like a balloon blown out the side of one which is s thinner weakened wall so is a weakness now, if the medics say the way forward is coiling to prevent rupture I'm told is a usual procedure and no where near as intrusive as open brain surgery, having one rupture is a very different tale and sustain resultant damage. It's very easy if you are given a choice to do nothing but I would definitely ask lots of questions of the medics, as doing nothing could end up in a rupture and should be avoided as it brings trouble with it.

Okay thanks. I've read that coiling for where they are can present problems but will wait till I see the Neuro.

Hi there

My anuerysm are 4mm & 9mm diagnosed 2yrs ago, I was told they were inoperable because of where they are and they way they hang!! I was told to live a normal life and they would check on me regularly and that at my age (59 at the time) my life expectancy would probably be the same. Then a year ago ago they brought in a different Dr who said I could have endovascular surgery, after lots of tests I had my my 9mm anuerysm repaired this way in June, 6 coils and a stent. I'm back at work and feel the same as before. Try not to worry they will look at every option.

Thank you for the reassurance. I have headaches a lot above my eyes and scalp. Used to think they were stress headaches from work but they could be due to the aneurysm. I just can't stop thinking about it bursting and I have severe tinnitus which doesn't help. I am on a waiting list to see a neurosurgeon so will be anxious till then. Every good wish to you. X
