I am a disabled female who lives at home with husband and 21 year old daughter but they can walk so spend all the time together without me. Ok it’s not just the fact I cannot walk. I loose my temper a lot. I am fed up with having no one to talk to , so any help?

Have you checked with Headway to see if they have a day centre in your area. If you could get there, it might be a release to talk, in person, to others with similar issues. Try the helpline number on 0808 800 2244 (free calls-office hours) and they'll be happy to tell you if there's a centre within reach.

But remember, we're always here on the forum whether you have a specific problem, just fancy a chat, or need to off-load !

Do you manage to get out much in your chair or with your husband in the car, say for a coffee or meal ?

Best wishes, Cat x

Thanks for your reply. I expect I am moaning, I get out a lot in the car but I have to rely on my husband to take me which I really dislike being dependent on others. I understand that is how life is now but 20 years on I still find it hard to accept it.

My husband is not the same as he was, I expect you heared about the shooting in New York? Unfortunately my husband was captive in the hotel room where the shooting took place. He has taken this stress very badly he may not of been physically hurt but mentally he has been affected. I do not know how to support him. People he knew were shot I cannot imagine being in such a situation. It’s hard for him to understand he should be pleased he survived. He is going to see a phycologist who may offer some help I do not know.

Sorry to moan but I cannot talk to him about it as he gets so upset.

Best wishes

You're not moaning m'love ! This is a support forum so no need to apologise, ever. especially in view of your challenges and difficulties.

I'm sorry to hear of your husband's shocking experience ; are you in the U.S. Mufc ?

No we are in England but my physiotherapist said hot weather was good for my muscles to work, so we brought a holiday home in Cape Coral and we spend as much time there as we can.

Ah, I see. Where roughly are you in the UK ? You're username suggests the NW (Manchester United FC) but that could just be a coincidence.

I know there's a Headway centre in Salford if you'd be interested in attending. I haven't been myself but there are many members who benefit from the company and support of other like-minded people with brain injury.

I live in Clay Cross.

So my deduction on Mufc was guesswork gone astray.

If you'd care to visit the day centre, it's a 30 min journey from Clay Cross straight along the A38 to Headway Derby.

I’ll wait until my husbandis more controlled with his issues and then I may get him to drive me to sessions
