Hi,

I don't know the specific answers to your questions but wanted to say hello and hoping you get some rest tonight.

Have you asked your medical team for advice ?

I only started riding my bike 2months after my brain illness.....mind you didn't really ride it before!!

I doubt I would have knitted after a month either. Have you tried grown up colouring books? I found them quite therapeutic.

Good night ☺

Thanks moo(?) I'm now the proud owner of a colouring book. Haven't seen anyone medical since I left hospital 3 weeks ago it happened in Salford And I live in Bristol So have been making it up as I go along . Gonna give hospital a bell on Monday to check they know about me .. thanks for you reply made me feel much better about speed or not if normality return kate

Hi again,

Worth contacting your local headway for advice/support and your local community neuro rehab team.

I didn't know they existed until my sister insisted on more help.

Happy Sunday ☺☺

A month on from my SAH I was only just reconnecting with reality ! Unless you have superhuman powers you might want to lower your expectations ...........way, way down.

Knitting will probably be especially difficult as any brain injury will interfere with motor skills (knitting probably comes under 'fine' motor skills) and at such an early stage your poor brain will be too busy trying to mend to remember how to knit. (maybe good therapy for later on though).

Phone the Headway helpline on Monday (0808 800 2244) and ask for their pamphlets on the after effects of brain injury. I think you'll find there's quite a way to go before you're back on your bike.

Take your time m'love. Your brain is a complex organ ; unlike other organs which can heal within a couple of weeks, it needs months of rest, fluids and respect before you can judge the extent of the damage.

Do you have family or others around for support ? Cat x

like others give your self time, the brain takes time to reconnect.

It took me a month to start attempting to ride the bike again namely wobbling up and down the garden, a few weeks later my wife took me on a very slow ride in local park, and i slowly built up confidence and ability to the point I was close to where I had been by 8 months.

bare in mind I MTB for pleasure rather than pottering.

Thanks Roger sounds sensible don't wanna put a helmet on til my scar is fully healed so that will determine return to 2 wheels to some extent and till then I will just enjoy the leisurely walkin pace
