good morning guys. Haven’t post for a long time. Had my appointment after 4 yrs from my surgery (thought it’s just a catch up ) when I arrive for my appointment first was sent to separate waiting room 🤪 (suspicious). My doctor came to me and we start to chat and he asked if I know why I’m there ?! I said yes you want to catch up and see how I’m doing, he replied no 😮We went to his office and he told me that my aneurysms (coiled)start to bleed 😩So I’ll have another surgery 😭 He explained me that they have to put stents in my brain 🧠 Does anyone here had stents placed in the brain and can share with your experience with me please. sooooooo stressed 😫 Thank you very much and have a lovely day.
4yrs after SAH …..: good morning guys. Haven’t post... - Headway
4yrs after SAH …..
Hi Irmina, I hadn’t realised you had had a SAH previously, is that when they had fitted the coils, that would make sense of your anxiety, but please be assured they do these ops constantly and are the experts, you are in good hands, do you have a date for your op xx
yes had SAH. Don’t remember much to be honest. Don’t have a date yet. My doc said end of May beginning of June. So just trying to digest that now. Didn’t expect that. Trying to have positive thoughts tho. Just remember how was after SAH and that scares me a lot. Was just wondering if it will be the same experience after.
Thank you Alice v much.
the fact that they are leaving you until may or June and the aneurysm is bleeding must show they are not overly concerned, it must be very minor bleeding and not causing any problems or you would have been admitted and operated on immediately. I would contact them straight away if you developed any problems or go to a and e, if you continue to be stressed contact the PALS team at the hospital and see if they can get you in any sooner, at least it will be done then. Let us know how you get on love Alice xx
Hi Irmina, I had my SAH coiled & 2 years later a stent fitted. It was a very, very different procedure and a much easier recovery, please be reassured that you don't need to be worried! Please can I ask how they detected the bleeding? Had you had a recent appointment/MRI?
I am sure they will explain what will happen & what you can expect, I'm surprised they haven't already? Do contact the neuro team for information, if it would help you to understand and reduce your concerns.
hi HHN62.
Thank you for your reply. Went for my scan and v soon after got a phone call and letter to attend meeting with my consultant. Thought it will be just check up how I’m doing. Then he informed me that there I wee leak but it’s not so serious that I need to have emergency surgery but he want to do that within few weeks. Waiting for the date but will be end of May beginning of June. This time I have time to prepare (not sure if that’s good thing, when suffers burst aneurysm wasn’t aware what’s going on for a month) so I’m stressing myself v much.
Don’t know what to expect.
How long have you stayed in hospital after surgery? And how was your recovery??
Geez, what a way to find out about another surgery, poor show on the part of your doctor. Can’t help on the stent front, as I haven’t had one. Got a call from the hospital asking me to comein to have a shunt fitted. Haven’t actually spoken to the neuro-surgeon about this but knew it was coming after last weeks pressure testing. Perhaps these doctors just like springing stuff on us. Hope you get some answers/advice.
