It wasn't just the job application it was the fact that daughter no1, not the one in Germany, reminded me it's her daughters birthdays on 31st July and 1st September respectively and they are going away on 19th July for a month. Then when looking at the calendar I see it's son no1's daughters' birthday today!

It's that multitasking thing I can't deal with.

I feel like I'm that proverbial headless chicken when all I want is a smooth ride!!!!

To coin a phrase

Aaaaaarrghhhh.

With you on this too as I can't multitask anymore and can only process and deal with one thing at a time but life doesn't comply with that but bombards and overwhelms us with multiple things all together. I used to be very able at multitasking! Oh an then there's the reduced understanding thrown in the mix!

Hi Janet.

A normal day then. I disagree about multi tasking. I can breath , walk and sometimes talk at the same time. Hey that's about as much as I can do but it's still multi tasking in my book.

I know the feeling of thinking you have finally got a grip of things only to find you have dropped most of the things you thought you had control of.

On a positive you had write the birthday on the calander ....It's a start.

Thanks Pax you brought a smile to my face, I'd forgotten all about the talking , talking and breathing. Unless it's with a phone in my hand, then I have to stop before I use it, my husband and I often have to walk along in silence because I've no more spoons left x

I do sympathise Janet. I was always so organised where birthdays are concerned but they've become an annual embarrassment.

But thanks m'love ; you've brought one to my attention (next Tues) which I was on the verge of forgetting (again).

I don't think you can justify beating yourself up about birthdays of grandaughters who're absenting themselves in any case ! And anyway, it's quite a bonus getting late pressies.

So then there was just David.............looks like you might have just managed to scrape through on that one ! (I hope so).

Have a good, stress free weekend Janet !

I am 100% with you all.

Any time i try to multi task it has been dangerous but like Pax I could breathing walking and talking as a big thing.

Janet it might be a factor that you didn't have enough space between your son's diagnosis and the other stuff .

I know that I need time to get to grips with and make peace emotionally with things like your son's diagnosis before I'm safe to try anything else.

Please get some real rest and have a peaceful weekend.

Love n hugs

Hi Random, and thanks for those kind words, I'm sure those tears I shed was just me releasing all the stress that's built up over my sons difficulties he's dealt with this last 3 years.

I'm become ng known for late birthday presents in the family now, but hey I don't forget totally do I?

Good for you. Even before the bi family present exchange was random at best.

One year I got 2 lots of Christmas presents and no less than 3 birthday presents from one family member in the one go.

I think all of us with some level of brain impairment suffer with this - it's all a mirage, anyway, this multitasking. The 'normals' think they can, but scans of the brain have shown no-one can actually process more than one thing at a time, they are just darting frantically between the two. We have lost the ability to do the frantic darting - thinking about one thing has us quite frantic enough, thank you.

As for birthdays, I sometimes remember on the day, but usually it's about 4 days or 4 weeks later. My family have got round to accepting that they won't get anything from me other than an apology. I don't get any cards myself anymore now though - which I think is a bit mean - but t has kind of let me off the hook!

Good luck to your son with his jobhunting. I am sure with a supportive mum like you behind him he will soon find the role that is made for him. x

Thanks Mal, I like the image of frantically darting , that sounds like just how I feel except I can't do the frantic anymore.
