I recently had an aneurism discovered and at the end of February 2017, it was "clipped". I've always had a high IQ, 138 - 140, sadly sub- Mensa. But following, the surgery, I can suddenly answer questions quicker, and analyze complex problems more completely. Why??

Brain surgery made me Smarter

Neural upgrade, blessed! Brain is so awesome & still unknown in parts.
The brain is amazing, 3 weeks post stroke i suddenly took to writing poetry when previously I couldn't make 2 lines rhyme let alone a whole poem. It was so intense that even when I spoke my words rhymed. Within the space of a week despite sleeping about 18 hours a day I'd written 10 poems ...it was astounding. I was very privileged to have some of my poems exhibited by the stroke association.
May your smart-ness long continue and wishing you a great recovery. X
Firstly, congratulations on your recovery
Your "improvements" are down to many things. A bit like an sports person whom is carrying on with a mild injury performing, but not at their best. Then the coach says enough is enough, you have to stop, work on your injury and then return. When the do return injury, fixed, rested and ready for a new challenge they are compared to the point just before they stopped to recuperate - and look a lot better.
It is the same with your injury, you have had a period of trauma, rest, recuperation. A bit like the sportsman you probably have concentrated on your injury and through either specialist or your own rehab your cognitive and reasoning skills have improved as a consequence.
Of course, your latent abilities may already have been there but now your are more conscious about your brain and its abilities that possibly you hadn't noticed before.
In any case you have done remarkably well. All the best for the remainder of your journey.
