Has anyone ever had 'mind blanks' after a head injury? Almost like wading through treacle to find your thoughts? Sometimes I get the most awful 'episodes' whereby I'll be doing something and I'll feel my thoughts slow down so much that it will be like there is a 'block' that is stopping my thoughts from flowing through my mind. Very odd and quite disconcerting.
My GP told me today that it is probably amnesia caused by my head injury 2 years ago. I hate the fact that no-one can help with these sort of symptoms, it makes me feel so frustrated.
I just wondered if anyone had anything similar following a head injury? I also have aphantasia - a loss of visual images in my mind, or to be more precise 'a loss of my mind's eye')... this is one of the more upsetting things I find make me depressed.

Yep think it goes along with short term memory loss. It feels like catching fog...You know it's there, you can see it, but can you he'll as grab hold of it.
Its very frustrating when your thoughts just grind to a halt. Never knew that not being able to picture things in your mind had a name. Just thought it came with the the other problems. See an old dog can learn something new.
I try and not chase things in my mind and let it come to me. Not perfect but sometimes it works .
Yes understand this one. Doesn't happen often for me thankfully, but I do appreciate how it can sideswipe you. It usually happens for mewhen I amtired and to be honest I hope it stays this way. So sorry to hear you are struggling with this. It is not pleasant. Clare
