Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has tried cbd oil? I've ordered some as hubby doesn't want to take traditional painkillers to manage his pain. He has also has an icd. Any shared experiences greatly appreciated x x

There are a couple of people here who use CBD oil and swear by its benefits. I have some, but stopped using it owing to staining of teeth (oil in dropper bottle for use under the tongue) so didn't use it long enough to feel the benefits.

I'm thinking of ordering the capsules, though I'm told they're nowhere near as effective as the oil in a dropper bottle because that goes straight into the bloodstream, whereas oil in capsules, after going through the digestive system, is much less effective.

There's also the option of vaping the oil, via a vape pen, which is apparently an effective and relaxing method of ingesting the oil.

There are reports of some astonishing results in cures/relief for serious conditions, as you've probably seen. But from what I've heard here on Headway it's effective for the relief of stress, pain and insomnia (& probably other issues which I've forgotten).

Good luck..............it would be interesting to hear how your husband gets on with the CBD after a few weeks.

Best wishes Cat x

Hi Cat,

I have tried both the CBD oil and CBD gel capsules.

For me, I don't think it makes much of a difference whether the CBD is in oil form or gel capsule, they both have to be put under the tongue, or it is recommended to be put under the tongue anyhow.

I like the gel capsules best of all. I get a slight tingly feeling on the tongue/throat whereas I don't get that feeling with the oil.

Like I was saying in the other comment, the CBD products don't do much for me and also they are expensive too. It's not worth the price for me. Cannabis should be free for us all but that is where another agenda lies.

I couldn't agree more with your last sentence Matt. Never mind that cannabis costs next to nothing to produce and has been proven to treat/cure many conditions, nor that it could be farmed (with psychoactive element removed) for the good of mankind..............it's another natural remedy which the greedy capitalists can monopolise !

..................bet they're frustrated that we're still getting our daily helpings of fresh air for free.

It is a pretty insane world we live in really. It could be perfect or near perfect.

I have read quite a few things about hemp and not only is hemp good for the health but it is great for a multitude of things. For one, hemp can replace paper. For years we have been chopping down trees to make paper and these trees take ten years to grow when we could be using hemp which I think, takes 5 months to grow!

That is just one of the things it is useful for but like you said it's the greedy capitalists after money.

And what is money at the end of the day? It is material. That is all it is. Completely worthless stuff.

I have read before about tallow (cow's fat) being used in the new £5 notes but I have just read that the government are concidering using palm oil in the £20 notes.

Palm oil is used in a lot of products and rainforests are being torn down just to get palm oil to supposedly, keep us happy. So animals such as Orangutans are losing their homes.

I wish sometimes it were the other way around and animals were tearing down human homes just to get resources they want.

Hi,

I have tried CBD in gel capsule form and oil. For me, it didn't have a great affect on me but I put that down to the amount of CBD used in these products, you don't get 100% CBD in them.

Some folk have said it helped them with their aches and pains and helped them to sleep better. However I do not get many aches and pains and my sleep pattern is a lot better than it was because I use essential oils now.

I have recently read that it is the THC (TetraHydraCannabidiol) in marijuana that is what is really needed, according to Rick Simpson.

If I were able to get some marijuana/THC oil I would be right on the case but some idiots have made it illegal, I wonder why.

I have nerve damage from my BI and I believe THC would be just the thing I need to help.

I have a lot more faith in nature these days and nature has sure helped me out :).

Sadly THC can do more harm than good. It's good for a 'high' and will relieve stress and pain temporarily, but can cause seizures, hallucinations and/or paranoia among many other problems, whereas CBD oil has no recorded side effects.

I only used cannabis twice and on both occasions I had severe paranoia, palpitations and breathlessness, and was good for nothing the following day ! But the CBD caused me no ill effects whatsoever.

Have a great weekend Matt ...............raining here today (not a big deal for me as I'm not mobile for another 5 weeks !!) xx

Really!? According to Rick Simpson, THC is what you need not CBD.

It's interesting for you to say you have tried cannabis before and have negative side affects. It makes it sound that cannabis isn't quite as perfect as it first sounded.

It's lovely weather here today down in the south east uk. The sun has got his hat on and I am relaxing in the garden. Why won't you be mobile for another 5 weeks?

Broke my foot a week ago ......................would you believe walking along a hospital corridor.

I'd turned to ask directions to a department and went over on my foot (might be a woman thing) and heard it crack !

So I've been in plaster up to the knee for one week .................another five to go. This is my favourite time of year when I like to be doing loads in the garden, but struggling to make a cuppa at present, :x xx

Oh no, sorry to hear about that.

That is very ironic how you broke your foot in hospital. It's the last place you want to injure yourself.

I no longer like doctors/hospitals. They can be too clean which is a problem. Being clean is a good thing but being too clean is going overboard.

And a lot of the hospitals are like labyrinths now. One section does this, one section does that and it is like a maze to get around. And these kinds of hospitals have fast food outlets and coffee shops in them! The last place a patient should go. It's bonkers, hospitals could be a lot smaller and slightly grubby too :).

I feel your anger when you want to get out and do gardening but can't right now.

Speaking of gardening though I am very impressed with my little section of my mum's garden so far. We are looking more and more into permaculture now instead of horticulture. Horticulture, the way I see it is the harder, more annoying way to garden. Permaculture is very easy and I say is the way nature intended.

Last year my mum let me grow some plants in two big pots and these pots were filled with wood chips, no soil needed. I was watering every now and then and was growing runner beans, strawberries, onoins, tomatoes even a dandelion as well. Dandelions are actually not only very good for plants but very good for human health also. It makes you wonder why mainstream media tells people to be killing weeds all the time doesn't it when in fact weeds are very beneficial, why do you think they spring up all the time.

Anyway, last summer I had an abundance of runner beans. I didn't get much from my strawberries or tomatoes, the plants may have been young still.

I haven't touched my plants since last summer.

Yesterday I planted two blackberry plants and because of all the breaking down the wood chips have been doing over the autmn/winter, I now have some soil and a bunch of insects and my plants look green and healthy still!

I'm hoping this Summer I will have a lot more to harvest :).

Also, my mum grew potatoes last year and she had an abundance of them as well.

That's a right pain! Sorry to hear that. Speedy recovery!

Hi Mary lou, unfortunately the only way to get effective, reliable high CBD/ CBN cannabis is to break the law and grow your own, or buy Hashish or Rick simpson oil illegally. Its cheaper, more fun and easier. I have managed to alleviate many of my post surgical symptoms symptoms tremors neuralgia, headaches It haseven reduced frequency and severity of my epileptic seizures, have a search online its all there, Technology of vaporisers has improved to the point where smoking it is unnecessary, also if you really want to stay on the right side of the Law, try a holiday to Holland, California Portugal, Spain or Germany As your budget allows! for a more enlightened view on medical grade Cannabis, Like most medicines though, start small and adjust your dose as your tolerance increases - even Low THC varieties still get you pretty stoned, however i was prescribed very strong opiates during my recovery which is apparently no problem at all, for the authorities! and have far worse side effects including addiction. Its a complex issue but its been a very useful medicine for me. also a wonderful chemotherapy drug, if you get the dose right Cannabis also helped me immensely during Chemotherapy when nothing else did at all.

Thanks for the informative discussion on here, I was looking into CBD yesterday, but have held off to see how I get on with a couple of other supplements that have anti inflammatory properties. :)
