Has anyone who has had a hypoxic/anoxic event experienced a change in vision? My prescription has gone up a lot, but i'm not going blind.

Negeen, make sure you see the best eye doctor you can. All eye doctors, and dentists, do not give care equally. Sometimes a doctor will try and take advantage of your disability, wt unneeded procedures, and higher costs. Dentists especially. I was born wt a lazy eye, and my vision actually improve some after my injury. I don't think it really did, but when I first went to an eye doctor post injury, I saw a bad eye doctor, I had as a child, he was actually amazed at how good my vision was. What could the reason be, he wondered? I think it was because, I had been seeing a great eye doctor since college. Proper eye care, actually helped improve vision. Sometimes injuries can cause visual problems, but sometimes they aren't really there at all. Make sure your seeing both a qualified, and honest eye doctor.

Hi Negeen, don't give my experiences names other than original one last year. However, Yes my eyes are terribly bad and getting worse now steadily month by month. One moon in the sky looked like 5 olympic rings early morning when it was still dark, along with other visual perceptions I've had.

I find it harder typing now than I used to and the computer is much more tiring because I need new glasses and can't a prescription except from an opthalmologist. I suggest you go and see one to have a good look at your eyes using the weird and wonderful opthalmic equipment that available these days. If there are problems in your retina or beyond, they are the specialists best placed to tell you.

I don't know how the American system works when it comes to eyes and glasses etc. Good luck, come back and tell us how you get on. Shirley.

Shirley, the American Health Care allows those to get the absolute best health care, if and only if they can afford it. Still for those who can't pay, government covered insurance is completely terrible. it became really bad after Medicare part D went into effect around 2005. There is only one place, as far as I know that offers free eye care, dental care, and healthcare in my entire city of 88,000 people. Luckily they are not all the same place, but still you can just imagine how hard it is to be seen. I refuse to get dental & eye care in these places anymore, and will pay out of pocket, for the best care I can afford. I am usually really strapped for money, because of my risibility, but will save up especially for that. When I got free care, I have had teeth filled that didn't need it, fillings fall out, the next day, and have been given the completely wrong RX for my eyes. I still will be seen for medical reasons, in the city clinic. Luckily I don't get sick a lot, so I rarely have to go. When I go to the clinic, I am only seen by medical interns for about 5 minutes, and then a licensed doctor for about 30 seconds, who just signs off on treatment. This is after hour or more long waits, even when I have a prescheduled appointment. Luckily the interns usually know their stuff, because there still in school, but there still really pressed for time.

I agree. The american healthcare system is amazing only if u can afford private health insurance and copays.
