What a brilliant facility that is ! The mosaic-effect zoo animals are very similar to an exhibition in my town this summer (Sale) where Chester Zoo's founder, George Mottershead was born.
We had a whole array of beautifully decorated life-size zoo animals on plinths in different areas of town ; the enormous giraffe still stands in the indoor area of the shopping centre,
I love to see people's creativity. especially when it's from the heart. What a wonderful haven Headway have created in Hackney ; I only wish I could get to see it for real.
Thanks for this Aqua ; it's a really touching story. xx
Forgot to mention what a beautiful, atmospheric picture you have on your profile page ! x
Arnold Böcklin was a Swiss symbolist painter
It's just taken me ages to find that info as I couldn't remember his name!!! He did some paintings which I love, although they are dismal. Don't think I'd want one on my wall :/
Just Googled Bocklin and I have to agree that his paintings are pretty bleak at times, especially the self portrait with 'Death' lurking at the side of him playing the fiddle !!
Still, he was obviously a prolific artist and a brilliant one. And I'd definitely hang 'Ruins-in-a-Moonlit-Landscape' on my wall ; such a beautiful atmospheric painting.
Handsome fellow too ! xx
Look a really good branch of Headway and a lot of support to the people whom have turned out some really good material.
You should see some of the work Matt one of the regulars on here have posted - some of his work is exceptional.
All the best with the expo
Definitely in my diary for over xmas. Thanks for posting. My husband went in a visit here and said it was an amazing centre he was really impressed.
Someone posted me a link to this the other day, as well as telling me I should look at the Headway website which I did. The exhibition isn't to far from me so i'd like to pop in for a nose.
