Free gym on Merseyside for people with brain injuries.

I've shared the link to The Brain Charity before because they offer something different than Headway. Don't get me wrong because Headway are great too but in a different way.

The Brain Charity is really hands on and totally down to earth.

If you live in the Merseyside or surrounding area, North Wales or the North West of England, here's a great service that is provided totally free for people with brain injuries, a Neuro Gym, sports and activity games tailored to your individual needs. There's expertise and personal trainers on hand to help you get started.

Here's a link for the gym on YouTube, you can find the contact details on the main site.

Other things they do are to help you, hands on, to deal with the NHS and DWP if you are having problems getting a diagnosis or claiming benefits.

I never know about the Brain charity .. all I know about is Headways as I did ring them after a couple of months at home and they said about this group I think ..🤔 I don’t know how I am in this group as have no memory of actual joining 😢 I have really thought about this the only information I got was in my discharge notes from hospital was about the Headway’s Group .. I’ve been on here saying it was the best thing I’ve done and got no idea how I actually got on here or remembering joining it 🤔 all I do remember is phoning Headways asking for help in think …. 🤔 wow the joys of TBI ..Sue x

Looks like a really interesting place. I'd be taking a look myself if I wasn't waiting for a knee op. (scheduled for 'some time' next year) Definitely something I'll be Googling, with a view to the future, though Richard. . . 🙂

Just Googled The Brain Charity :-

The Brain Charity

Norton Street

Liverpool

It looks amazing ; received an anonymous donation a couple of years ago and now up & running. Well worth a look.

Too far for me at present (about an hour's drive from me) but definitely for the future. . .

Thanks for this, can't believe I didn't know about it! Or perhaps it's very new? Just been deciding to join a gym, as Ian does very little exercise and is putting such a lot of weight on, but this sounds so much better. Is it actually at the Brain Charity in Liverpool? Been there, and wouldn't have thought it's big enough for a gym?

Contact them and find out where it is. You are from that area so you both should be able to get there easily.

Yes, it is in the place itself, I'm surprised! Have just emailed them. It's a great place, we used to go for ukulele lessons before Covid. And without their help he wouldn't have got PIP. They are so helpful. Will be nice to go back. Thanks again for highlighting it x
