Arms for the poor

So, taking little un to school, I thought I'd have a little go on her scooter, for a giggle you understand.

An hour later, one broken wrist and one severely pi**ed off Baron.

Six weeks in a full cast you say? Ok, fair enough

Sorry Andy but my immediate reaction was hoots of laughter. Then I started to consider your pain, and the inconvenience of A&E and a plaster caste, not to mention the physical impairment !! and I did feel quite guilty.

Maybe stabilisers next time ??

Seriously, I hope it isn't too uncomfortable & you can see the funny side yourself very soon. xxx

You've always hated me :)

In hindsight, yes, I'm a dick :)

was it fun?

I broke my wrist a few years back, while up on the brecon beacons one of the most painful things I've can rember at least!

I sadly ignored it for a few weeks, driving, riding etc on it until I gave up and went to the local hospital where the nurses gave me that look...

Oh dear silly Andy! Never mind you wont do that again will you.Seriously though hope its not too painful for you.

Did you ruin the scooter??Dad in a cast on father's day coming up- never mind!Plenty of tlc for you and the scooter probably!

Rest up!

Sod the scooter, the scooter is evil.

I WILL have my revenge

Hey was there a bump or crack in the pavement???

BaronC profile image
BaronC in reply to

Yes, the front wheel jammed in the pavement. The scooter stopped, I didn't

in reply toBaronC

There you are'Where there's a blame'... You'll need that evil scooter for evidence- better find some witnesses lol and not the YBF kind!

I just bought my grandson an electric scooter for his 7th birthday ; it's brilliant. I fancy one myself for the Tesco run. :D xx

Yes, I know, you hope I'd go a purler first time out !! :p

Oh dear Andy what can I say...........um......... guess it started out being hugely fun .......until the damn scooter and pavement decided to get its revenge cos it was your the little uns scooter which maybe you hadn't asked permission to have a go on????!!!!! Sorry but I am also guilty of not being able to suppress the giggles as I read your post and saw your peeved expression!! Guess you can get out of helping with any washing up for the next 6 weeks?!

Best wishes for your recovery x

After having a long day at work and saw this must admit it made me laugh you never mentioned did anyone see you playing about on a kiddie scooter when it happened !!!

Its like trying the kiddie rides in the supermarkets and the looks you get is priceless which would just encourage me more.

So next time try kiddie rides where you pop the coin in and hopefully you won't fall off it.....hahahaha

Mandy:)

Oh dear , bet that be last time you try this. I expect you thought walking back with a kid's scooter, pushing it along is quite tiresome and have a go, get home quicker and more fun :) !

I guess as now in plaster the pain has diminished? They may after three weeks , re x-Ray and you may be in a sling cast, which at least you can take off to shower.

Hope you feel better soon

Oh Andy, shameful juvenile behaviour !

You can look forward to the itching while it knits together : ) x

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . this . . . . . . . is me . . . . . . . .creeping in quietly . . . . . to ask if you're feeling any better about stuff today. ??

Hi you. Just back from the fracture clinic. I now have a very fetching dark blue pot on my arm, for six weeks. After all the manoeuvering of the wrist, I'm now in quite intense pain.

And I feel sick.

Aside from that, I'm fine

cat3 profile image
cat3 in reply toBaronC

Oh you poor boy. The only break I ever had was my big toe ! and it hurt like hell, so I can only imagine your pain.

Not a lot you can do is there, apart from keeping the PKs going 4 times daily and keeping the injury as still as possible in the early healing stages.

You should get the duvet and write the day off with some TV and hot drinks.

I'm over the hysterics now Andy, and just hope you'll soon be out of pain. :o Maybe a more smiley picture when things improve ??

BaronC profile image
BaronC in reply tocat3

Oh, I'm smiley, really. I'm my usual ebullient self, but the pain is tempering it somewhat. My whole arm is just sore, but my wrist is agony.

I'll be fine, to be honest my main concern is that myself and the Baroness are going for a weekend at Rutland Water in a fortnight...

cat3 profile image
cat3 in reply toBaronC

Now it's properly set the pain should ease pretty quickly.

And by the time you're going to Rutland It'll probably be covered in graffiti & you'll have got used to being a one-armed man.

Good thing Sharon is the driver though !!

I wonder whether you explained the cause of the fall to nursing staff BTW ??

xx

BaronC profile image
BaronC in reply tocat3

Yes, I may have mentioned the cause :)

'Oh! A child's scooter! I thought you meant a proper scooter, like the mods ride'.

cat3 profile image
cat3 in reply toBaronC

So on a positive note, you've probably lightened someone's humdrum day with a few giggles & shakes of the head.

Not great for you Street Cred locally though !!

BaronC profile image
BaronC in reply tocat3

I've never had any of that anyway!

That's what the cool kids have. I'm positively warm :D
