Did you know? And some good news.

If anyone else suffers from the double hit of noise tiggering the truly violent and blinding headaches and a very serious dislike of dentists please read on.

I got the courage to make a dental appointment for the first time since the bump. Needless to say I need fillings. Mentioned my bi and noise being a trigger to him and he made a hospital referral.

My fillings will be done under sedation.

Thought that it was worth a mention.

Good news is that I made an appointment to have my physio reviewed just in case I have learned any bad habits in the last year since discharge.

The physio says I am still doing the exercises right and that they are at the end of the phone for me if I ever need them.

Learning to live with it

Lovenn hugs to all

Am pleased to hear that the dentist is arranging a good solution to get your teeth fixed without you having to endure noise trauma. I am noise sensitive but it doesn't cause me blinding headache just pains my head when the noise is occurring. However I am anxious and scared now when I go to the dentist and liable to be in the chair with tears rolling down my cheeks but that is a symptom of all the invasive procedures I experienced in hospital.

Great news too that you were able to get a review by the physiology and they are keeping an open door for you.

Best wishes xx

I don't think the noise is a problem, but any sort of dental procedure just wipes me out these days. I had a wisdom tooth removed last year and I went home, went to bed and stayed there for nearly 48 hours. All a bit mad really, it was just a tooth, after all. At the time it seemed it might fit with a possible diagnosis of adrenal insufficiency but that has been ruled out, so it seems I just don't cope very well with even minimally invasive procedures. And here's me possibly heading for brain surgery...rofl....

But will bear request for sedation in mind. My husband hates all dentists, even those he hasn't met yet, and always has to be knocked out - but that is for sheer terror!!!

Fortunately I don't get noise triggers that worsen my headaches and my dentist is really good and careful.

A lot of people seem to have trouble getting dentists to treat them when they have epilepsy but mine is very good, asking type and frequency, triggers etc.so he know what to avoid and what to expect. NHS as well so hope out there somewhere.

It sounds as though you have a conciderate dentist that is prepared to help with alternative rather than the 'sorry can't treat you then' attituded that some have.

Take care and stay well

I have dental work done under IV sedation... its fabulous. The only small downside is that you have to have someone with you on the day...both to take you home (you walk out but its a drunken zombie walk LOL) and to stay with you for 12 hours afterwards...

And you really do need that supervision... it takes a long time for the sedation to fully wear off and you may appear fine a few hours later but it is still unsafe for you to be alone....and the next day you will recall very little about the visit or how you got home or what you did in the hours after treatment.

Glad that things are going well with the physio too.
