Leafy suburbs of South West London

Sunny Cornwall here. When the forum first started you could see the area members came from, but after the site re-vamp it disappeared. Seemed a shame as I always felt that maybe it could be useful for members to see who was in their neighbourhood - but guess they had their reasons for scrapping it??!
Sunny Leicestershire, but only moved here last year from.....Gods county....Driffield, East Yorkshire!
Have you found that people don't realise how big Yorkshire is She visiting in London I tried to explain that it was nearly as far from Sheffield to London as it is to the northern most point of Yorkshire
I love Yorkshire. Have friends in Sheffield, Leeds, Harrogate & Hebden Bridge. H/gate is a lovely town ...........stayed there often. The flower show is beautiful as are
Harlow Carr & Fewston Reservoir etc ...etc.
...................
Stayed at the Black Bull in Howarth overlooking the graveyard too ........lovely.
xx
Howarth is lovely, but soooo steep hills. Did you get on the KWV Railway?
Dev
No I didn't Dev. I was only there a couple of days & wasn't aware of the railway at the time. But so quaint and lovely, friendly folk.
Yorkshire has two national parks the Dales and Moors also is in part of the Peak District
Yes dillm we used to go up to the Derbyshire/Yorkshire moors regularly..........Really
vast, awe-inspiring and beautiful part of the world.
Even used to go up in mid-winter just to soak up that unique atmosphere.
Sunny Manchester x
S Yorks xxxx
I also live in S Yorks but prefer to tell people Yorkshire as people don't know where S Yorks is if I am really pedantic I say I live on the West Riding / Derbyshire border that really confuses them
PS I went to top end of Yorkshire -Redcar via Whitby Saturday by train and bus ( got a rail card and mobility bus pass) only cost £20
Ooo love Whitby. We are going up to Filey in the summer with the grandchildren, so hope to visit again. Must admit there is still a lot of Yorkshire we haven't visited, and yes it is a big place. We have been surprised how Leicestershire often reminds us of Yorkshire, it also has some very beautiful countryside. And have to also mention that Headway Leicester is the best!!!
If you get chance go to Sandsend 3 miles north of Whitby 10 min's on the no. 4 bus. Yorkshire is gods own county ; Sandsend is Heaven
Ok thanks so much, we will definitely give that a try!!
I used to live in Whitby, had my eldest son there. Lived near the golf course on the way out towards sandsend! Loved living there.
They have built houses on boatyard by doctors surgery not impressed
Often said if Yorkshire is God's own County then Sandsend is heaven
We are in Derbyshire near Chesterfield (of Crooked Spire fame) and have a weekend home in Scarborough....best of both of the two greatest counties in the country

I'm in Aberdeenshire now, between Aberdeen and Inverness. Moved here 17 years ago from Brighouse in West Yorkshire. Oh how I miss it. Miss my family terribly. Still very proud to be a Yorkshire lass xxx
I lived up there too! In Moray. Had my daughter in Raigmore, had spinal surgery in ARI. Went from Kinloss to fylingdales NYorks.
Victoria was taken to Elgin first but was then flown to ARI from RAF Lossiemouth. The intensive care unit there was amazing with us.
East Dorset - it's lovely here
So is it because Yorkshire is big, or is their some statistical likelyhood that you'll be more involved in brain injury if you are linked with Yorkshire?
Last of the Summer Wine...

Near Birmingham.
Somerset, though husband came from Surrey. Always reckons he found me in a haystack!
I was born in Notts, spent a lot of time in dales and peaks, my family are in Derbyshire and Notts and Scotland.
I have moved frequently due to serving in RAF.
I now live in Scotland on a farm between Forfar and Brechin, which I'm sure everyone has heard of! Between Dundee and Aberdeen on the east coast.
We are in Huntly just above Aberdeen. Xx
wellingborough here
Sunny Sheffield but am originally from Poole, Dorset. Been in Yorkshire over 25 years so my accent is well mixed up
I live about 40 mins away from Cambridge in a tiny little village called Stambourne & it's absolutely gorgeous.
Since my accident I have been "told" by so many well meaning friends/family that they think it would be better for me if I moved to a town, so I'm closer to other people & they could also come & visit me more often.
Considering I'm only about a 20min drive away from most of my family & friends, I can't see that would make any difference at all to any of them making more of an effort to come & see me.
Not very many make an effort with me living here & I really can't see that by me moving closer to them that will change anything either, just maybe their excuse for not visiting would change...
I'm sure most of the ones that are telling me to move think that suggesting this idea to me is in some way helpful. Yes I agree I am now very isolated out here but no, I can't think of anything worse than moving.
I was even told by one "well meaning" person that if I moved to a town I could look out of a window & I would see other people walking by! As if that would in some way help me....
I've lost so much since the day of my accident & I'm not going to be forced to move as well. I have the most fantastic family living in the only house that is next to me, they come round & make sure I'm ok, they help me out if I need help. They really are the best neighbours in the world, why would I want to loose these wonderful people from my life, they are more involved in my life than most of my own far too busy family that want me to move are.....
It's so beautiful & quiet here, yes ok sometimes & only sometimes I feel a bit sad that I can't just get out & that I have to always rely on someone if I need to go out anywhere but I have excepted all of that now & anyway I wouldn't be able to go out on my own wherever I lived now due to many reasons all to do with the accident.
So I won't be moving ever if I don't have too. I feel more at home in this cosy house in the middle of nowhere surrounded by nothing but farmers fields & my one set of fantastic neighbours than I have ever felt in any of the other places I have ever lived in, in my whole life.
I am in Poole, Dorset..

Sunny Cyprus haven't wrote anything on here for ages but do occasionally have a read and saw this old post, originally from Nottingham.
Glad you posted Gabimou - it is really interesting to see locations. I am in London but want to move out to somewhere quieter as London is just too busy and overcrowded for me. The London I've known all my life has gone and I don't like what it's become. So, need to find new pastures that are quieter, and less crowded and less international. Sometimes I think I am the last Londoner left in London!
