I've just had a thought, my faviurite song of all time is called With Strength I Burn by Norwegian Black Metal band Emperor.

Probably (definitely!) won't be to a lot of people's taste but the title says it all - another motto for us all

I'll run all these past my son later, I know he likes Cannibal Corpse he'll be thrilled I know, enjoy, I'm not one for music, strange I know and I'm afraid I like the likes of cat Stevens, fleet wood mac, the doors. All the oldies, comes from being 61 now, but I am a live and let live person, whatever you like is fine with me, just can't take loud music now at all, seems to divert my brain from all other tasks!!

Amazing, I remember being played Plan B through my headphones when I was in hospital, makes me very emotional to listen to it now, it was when I was in a coma. Strange what the brain does.

I'm always taken back the place I heard it live, I can feel the atmosphere, see the weather, what we were eating etc etc. Definitely warm fuzzy feelings. Sadly couldn't hear when I came round so the music therapy wasn't much good! I did my own once I was with it enough to work the stero.

It was my family put the IPod on me in the hospital, but I don't really remember, just snatches now and again, I couldn't work my phone or my kindle or the tv remote in hospital. Only just beginning to get the hang of things when I went to the rehab unit, they were fantastic, as was my family, so patient, helped me no end xxxx

I still can't tell the time on an otdinary clock, I can now see the hands but don't know what they mean. I've got loads of digital clocks which were completely useless last night when the storm knocked the power out!

Hope you're safe where you are xx

Me again sorry for lots of little messages in true abi style keep forgetting things. If your son likes Cannibal Corpse he'll probably like Hypocrisy (Roswell 47 my favourite song) or Morbid Angel I like US & Swedish death metal. He may already know them, if not give them a try!

Emperor are a fine band and it's great to see that Black Metal can inspire positive feelings!

in reply to Mikesghost

Yippee a fellow Emperor fan! Sadly I never got to see them boo hoo. Have seen Mayhem, Immortal & even Samoth's Zyklon a few times. Best gigs ever

I would love to see them too, they still play some shows so it's not too late!

Many years ago (well 1999) literally a month before I discovered the mighty Emper I went to a Marilyn Manson ig at the Brixton Academy in London only to find out later that Emperor were on at the same time down the road at the Astoria. Luckily the Astoria gig is the on in their live DVD but still feel robbed!

I would feel robbed too although I like Manson, Emperor would have been bloody amazing to see. I doubt I ever will see them though as I live in the north of Scotland and getting to any major concert is an expensive pain in the rear!
