This is a very interesting documentary on ambien, a drug developed to combat insomnia and it's ability to change the lives of people with brain damage. Well worth watching.

Hi Mikesghost,

Many thank for posting this video. This drug (more widely know as Zolpidem) hit the news a few years ago when its possible positive effect on consciousness was first discovered (headway.org.uk/Sleeping-pil...

A number of clinical trials have been conducted since, with many showing similarly positive effects for some patients. You can read some of the research at ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?te... sites.google.com/site/zolpi...

It's certain that more research is needed in this very interesting area, and people who think a relative may benefit should speak to their doctor.

Thank you again for posting.

Best wishes,

Headway.

Thanks.

My own problems with memory and cognitive ability are quite mild but still frustrating so I will be asking my GP about this drug, I hope she prescribes it for me.

Hi Mikesghost,

I was researching this myself a little while ago, it's something I've been aware of since my mom mentioned a program she saw about this a few years ago. I gathered from what I read that the people who benefit are those who have a high level of impairment so I never got as far as asking my GP to prescribe it off-label, but it's a very interesting area. Keep us posted!
