Finally...

Managed to speak to my Dad's G.P. and after it appeared he had been written off as not in a fit state for physio, it has been decided that he will be reassessed for physio. He has also passed a swallow test and is being allowed soft puréed food, which must be better than nothing (he is currently fed via a P.E.G.) one year on and little improvements are being seen. He clearly seems to understand what we are talking to him about, even though he still cannot speak. I won't let him be written off... I know there is more to come, even if it isn't as much as we would like.

That's really good to hear Mark. Keeping busy is sometimes medicine in itself, easy for me to say! Keep up the good work xx

Really pleased that there's finally some improvements, I was still being fed by peg when I was eating normally, and then they wondered why I put 10lbs on one week!!, I'm sure the improvements will continue, even though they may be slow xxxx

Thanks Kirk5w7, we are having to push for physio, which you think would be a standard treatment... But no! X

It still doesn't make sense that I, with my 'one thing after the other' history should come off quite lightly, whilst he (Geoff) never had a days illness in his life but goes down like a ton of bricks.

Still, we're all hoping upon hope that there may now, after 13 months, be some rehab, which is something no one has seen evidence of so far. It's brilliant that Helen(Lubilu) & her brother have finally managed to break through so much red tape to allow various concerns to be addressed. Well done H. xxx

P.s. it is being on this site, hearing the experiences of all you wonderful people that makes me want to get more help for my dad. If it was up to the system, he would be written off but I know he has more mending to do, maybe not as much as we would like but we cant give up. Giving up is the easy option, but nobody on here has given up and that is my inspiration!
