Mango is listed as a FODMAP. It maybe that you can eat a little. You could try two pieces and see how you react. Do you also react to these foods as well?

ibs.about.com/od/ibsfood/a/...

Foods that contain a high fructose to glucose ratio (with an excess ratio of 0.2 mg) are considered FODMAPs (19):

Fruits: apples, cherries, grapes, mango, pears, watermelon, ripe bananas, dried fruits

Search our directory for FODMAP we already have a lot of good posts on this topics.

See: kcl.ac.uk/medicine/research...

Ask your Dr to refer you to a dietitian who is FODMAP trained.

Hi Mikeila, was the mango in a can or was it fresh. Mangos can be problematic through their skins. The skin of a mango is best avoided but can spoil the rest of the fruit as when cutting through the mango the soft middle can become contaminated by the skin. Here are the suggestions and guidelines for eating fresh Mango:

"Mango Allergy Management

If you have a mild mango allergy, you may be able to avoid symptoms by washing the mango with soap and water before handling them.

Do not eat the skin.

Do not scrape the flesh off of the skin.

Avoid the mango pulp near the skin.

If you continue to get mango allergy symptoms, you will have to avoid them completely. Hopefully the above tips will help you continue to enjoy mangoes without allergy symptoms.

HINT: Peel the skin with one knife, and cut the fruit with another to avoid contamination of the fruit."

See managing allergies on the link below:

allergy-details.com/allergy...

Some people suggest that they are best eaten cooked as these are less likely to cause IBS symptoms.

Mangos are high in fructose so fructose malabsorbtion may cause problems in some people.

Hi Mikeila.. I have IBS and I don't eat mango or any tropical friuts. I have IBS that manifests with diarrehea. I find it extremely difficult to eat any raw fruit at all. Usually, I cook it. I stick to fruits grown locally. If you have IBS with constipation, fruit is recommended to provide additional fibre and help with elimination. I hope that's helpful. Ü

Thank you guys..I have IBS that manifests with diarrhea specially when I'm under stress .I'm coeliac from more then 10 years and I would expect my intestines to be heal by now.My last tests showed me that everything is k with my coeliac disease, no inflamation, no nothing but my reactions say otherwise. It is helpful if you take probiotics like acidophilus ?Does any one now a good probiotic? I will try to make an app with my GP to send me to a dietitian.I sow one last year but didn't help me at all.Do you think if I will make fresh juice from apple ,orange, etc. at home, will be better ?

Hi Mikeila,

This might not be the case for you, but thought I'd let you know that a month or so ago, Canada experienced an outbreak of E coli / salmonella that was traced to specific mangoes imported from Mexico.

If I were you, I think that I would wait a bit and then give the mango another try.

Hope you are feeling better.

Best of luck to you.
