So my endoscopy appointment landed on the mat 20 minutes ago - 3pm Friday! I guess it varies but can anyone tell me how long it might take for the results to come through? I've already had positive blood tests.

How long do cd tests take?
What I am concerned about..is if you are not eating gluten...and I mean quite a lot of the stuff...you may get a false result.
Opinion varies as to the amount of gluten you need..and the duration.
Will think about you Friday...

Oops I must have phrased the question badly. As yet I haven't been confirmed coealiac or started a gf diet.
I'd been suffering with reflux for quite a while and so went to my GP who gave me omeprazole for a couple of months which didn't help. I have a history of helicobacter [and my father had a peptic ulcer] so I went for an endoscopy which has confirmed a small duodenal ulcer. I'm still waiting to hear whether the biopsy has proved positive for helicobacter. [I'm also having a breath test tomorrow]. At this point in time cd was not suspected as blood test results had not come through.
I have since received positive blood tests and have been waiting for a second endoscopy to confirm whether or not it is cd. As instructed by my GP I haven't changed my diet at all so I'm eating as normal - gluten as usual.
My question is really, with my endoscopy at 3pm Friday, when am I likely to get a definitive diagnosis? How long does it take to test the biopsies? Am I likely to get any immediate feedback?
Hope this make sense.
Really, it depends on the time the lab take in looking at the samples..although sometimes...a friendly medic doing the techie bit with the camera..may tell you...might be off record so to speak. I dont want to get anyone in bother..or to raise false hopes either...
The actual test can...be offered sedation or just the throat spray....have what ever you feel will suit you best. Not the most fun afternoon....but....
Could stil be a number of things...I am no medic. Just hope you get some answers..

Hi boxer, have you come across Manuka honey? :
bewellbuzz.com/nutrition/wo...
Here's an extract:
Improves digestion: Active manuka honey is exceptional at solving digestion problems. It is a valuable therapy for ailments such as bacterial infections in the stomach / digestive tract; stomach and peptic ulcers; diarrhea, gastritis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and acidity.
I came across an article where in NZ Dr's tried patients on Manuka honey for 2 weeks and their peptic ulcers were gone, It has to have a UMF of 10 or more and supermarkets sell it.

And good luck on Friday, let us know how you get on.
Jerry
Interesting stuff - have you tried it yourself?
I think I'll wait to see what my diagnoses are before trying this as I'll probably only confound the results!
Thanks for taking the trouble to reply.
Hya, I do indeed eat it, I came across it after being given a jar by someone who visited NZ. I like honey anyway so even tho' I don't have ulcers etc I think you might as well eat ones that are extra healthy.
I like Chilean honeys the best so I also buy this active honey:

Here's a blog from the GFG archives about Manuka honey:

As for immediate feedback, after my biopsy I was told that I was a coeliac, so I went home diagnosed and bewildered!
Cheers.
Time lapse between blood test results and endoscopy will be 2 1/2 weeks so I'm already bewildered!
Hi Boxer
My experience was that after a very traumatic journey to diagnosis i had bloods that came back very positive and was subsequently sent for an endoscopy. My consultant came to my bedside and told me immediately after the endoscopy that it was obviously coeliac disease because of the damage to the villi. I started onto gf diet immediately on my own and eventually had a once only visit to a dietitian!!! things improved very rapidly from then and have continued to do so . Unfortunately i have gained back the weight that i had lost prior to diagnosis.aggggh!
I would suggest you take sedation.
Good luck and hope this helps
Jenny
Hi Boxer,
I would also suggest you take sedation, not to bad then, should take about a week, well mine did, depends on the hospital, I guess, the best of luck, shall be thinking of you Friday.
My daughter had her endoscopy and the doc said there and then what her gullet was like and started on the gf diet straight away x
How long did your positive blood tests take to come back please? I had a blood test on Monday. So panicking a bit.
Also, when they do the endoscope if their isn’t any “damage” or evidence that they can physically see it’ll be the biopsies they rely on which can take up to 8 weeks I believe but can be back sooner that that of course
