iron supplements and folic acid

I’ve only been gf since Sept after discovering it was causing my anaemia. I had my latest blood test results this week and was advised to continue with the iron tabs and start taking folic acid.

is this something I should expect to have to do long term? I’m still in the learning phase so trying to get as much info as possible. I felt awful without the iron so obviously need it but waiting to see if I feel better with folic acid.

My husband was low on folate, he wasn't particularly a veg eater, and he felt better for them.

Just make sure that the iron and Folic Acid is organic and not inorganic. The Folic Acid is mainly inorganic, look for the term "Folate."

I was also found to be very anaemic before my CD diagnosis 13 years ago. I was prescribed iron tablets then, and eventually got to an acceptable iron level. I do still take a dose of OTC iron every day, which is of course a lower dose than via prescription. I feel it helps and it is low enough not to be taking too much.
