Hi, I have a mild version of the same problem, and am diagnosed with Coeliac. An allergy doctor recently suggested that I try giving up dairy for 7-10 days to see if it disappeared. I did and it went. I’ve started eating it again and it’s come back! Worth a try. All the best

Oh Junny123,

Sorry to hear. Like Hil101 has said try dairy free.

Is it your dominant hand ? I am not a big fan of painkillers as these are not very good for the gut either. I am thinking along the lines of

Rest

Ice - or hot, cold compresses.

Compression so wearing a hand support.

I take Quercetin which is a natural antioxidant. I buy from eBay, 5’greens because they are free from and have no fillers.

I listened to a Professor Conaghan’s (Rheumatology, Leeds) lecture and was shocked to hear that there are over 200 types of arthritis. I had dreadful joint pain and had a diagnosis of fibromyalgia. My knees still play up but nowhere near as bad as previously.

Sorrytohear. A sudden flare up in the one spot is certainly suggestive, but typical age related arthritis is usually gradual. It could be gout arthritis? That would suddenly flare on one side. Can affect any joint. Especially red inflamed. It should clear in a few days if it is that. Drink water. Avoid fructose from sugar. If relatable Avoid sweet drinks. Go easy on fruit. Avoid meat, peas, tomatoes, and mushrooms if you eat them until it settles down. Eat low glycemic foods. Also foods like white potatoes, tomatoes and peppers can be problematic for people with arthritis. Look up nightshade vegetable sensitivitity.

I agree as Hil101 and Narwhal10 said about dairy. There’s case studies in medicine showing cows milk and cheese linked to arthritis flares. Especially rheumatoid arthritis.

Hope that’s helpful.

Personally it took me a long time to relate eating gluten free oats and painful episodes. Potatoes too. I was dairy free for a long time but have been able to reintroduce some like butter and cream. So unlike strict gluten free it’s possible to overcome some other food sensitivities if they are avoided for a little while.

Hi Junny 123,

Try green lipped muscle extract. It is especially good for arthritis since it reduces the underlying causes (membrane damage to the joints, muscles and tendons as well as being an effective pain killer. It's best taken in capsule form with water or juice since it has a distinct fishy taste.

Another thing worth checking on is your possible use of mobile phones. If you hold your phone in your hand when you are using it, the pulsed microwaves can damage your cell membrane leading to inflammation and pain.

If I were you, I would use your mobile as little as possible and even then put it on a table as for away as possible and use it on speakerphone

Also, avoid texting since, although it reduces your microwave exposure to just a few seconds when you press "send" ,you are likely to get repetitive strain injury (RSI), which can also cause severe hand pain.

Hope this helps.
