Post endoscopy diet

Hi everyone, first time posting. I've had an endoscopy this morning for a coeliac diagnosis. The Dr said everything looks normal but took biopsies as well. My first ttg bloods were 27 then second one 3 weeks later was 39.7. I have eaten loads of gluten in past 6 weeks and have felt dreadful - fatigue, brain fog, bloating, wind etc so I expected the damage to be seen. I don't know what to do now - do I go gluten free from today or wait for biopsies? My symptoms are mainly neurological and bloat/wind after bread

When you say you'd eaten gluten for 6 weeks before the test, had you cut gluten out & reintroduced it again?

I can't imagine they would want to carry out another endoscopy, so it's entirely up to you if you want to trial a gluten free diet now. Your results may take a few weeks, if that helps you to weigh up whether you want to just reduce gluten or cut it out entirely.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I've always eaten gluten but I increased my bread uptake as I didn't eat a lot of that. I hope they won't make me do another endoscopy!!

I was told everything looked normal after my endoscopy but the biopsy later showed CD. I did go GF after the biopsy as I just wanted to try to do something to improve my symptoms and how I was feeling. I figured it couldn't do any harm to go GF even if CD wasn't diagnosed.

I’m not a medical professional but I would say since you had the biopsies done, and because you feel horrible from the gluten you’ve ingested, stop the gluten.

I was tested for celiac disease almost 15 years ago bc my brother and nephews all have it. 15 years ago I was just ‘sensitive’ to it (what I was told) forward to 2017 when my iron was depleted and I felt terrible, all the tests came back positive for celiacs. My point is that you know your body best and if you feel like crap, and you know why, I would follow your instincts. Good luck!
