Hi everyone, this is my first time on here. I was told to join by a friend who benefits from forums herself. I was diagnosed a coeliac 8 years ago and have suffered with so many other problems since ! Has anybody else found this ? What type of things do people also suffer with ? Anybody any advice on how to manage the condition ? I’ve recently been auffering terrible mouth ulscers, fatigue and unexplained bruising, could these be symptoms of coeliac ? Any advice would be appreciated

Hello Candyfloss, are you under a hospital consultant for the coeliac as they should be checking you regularly?

Coeliac disease is an autoimmune problem and sometimes you can get other autoimmune conditions so if you experience symptoms you should be screened for other conditions.

Please consult your doctors re your symptoms and let us know how you get on 😃. Best wishes Diane

Hi liver,

No I’m not under any consultant. To be honest I was diagnosed 8 years ago, given a gluten free diet book and sent on my way ! I’ve since developed fibromyalgia and struggle with other problems on a daily basis. My diet is pretty poor and I don’t take any vitamins as I’m not sure what are the best ones to take. I’ll defjnitely be asking for some medical advice.

Thank you for your reply

Check the Coeliac website for advice. Unfortunately it’s possible to have problems with other foods, dairy is a common one. It would be a good idea to talk to your doctor about your symptoms.

Yes I’ve been wandering if I have a diary problem also as no matter what I eat I always feel bloated ! I’ll book back in with my doctor for some more tests and advice. Thank you

Good luck with the doctor.

Many people find that the additives in things like ready-made gluten free bread can cause bloating. It’s often a good idea to stick to naturally gluten free foods only, when first diagnosed.

If I accidentally get glutened (usually from cross contamination) I suddenly feel extremely tired but this only lasts a few hours. As for the bruising I take vitamin E. This is my personal experience and as “liver-bird” says you must speak to your doctor

Bruising can be caused by steroid use, even inhaled asthma ones.
