Hi Eecos

I think everyone is different when it comes to reaction time. I can react anytime up to 8 hours, depending on the kind of gluten- containing food.

Try some peppermint tea to help you get over it.

Perhaps have a look on the Coeliac UK website for more info.

Thanks. I have struggled to find information other than basic symptoms. I suffer from a liver disorder and apparently celiac is closely related. I am experiencing many of the symptoms and just feel wiped out with bloating and nausea. I get heavy arms and legs and pins and needles and always mouth ulcers. I also get blister type spots on my feet and dizziness. My last test a year ago was inconclusive but it's definitely been worse in last few months X

Perhaps you could ask for a re-test, as symptoms are getting worse? You need to make sure to be eating gluten to be able to get a positive result.

If all else fails, perhaps try eliminating gluten and see what effect it has. Good luck sorting this out.

Hi ive had stomach issues on and off for a while now, after 10 days of the runs i went to gp, just happened to mention burning legs so she ordered b12 test- sure enough it came back low. Your symptoms are similar to others of mine have you been tested for b12? Just a thought. Have a web search for b12/pernicious anemea

Hi eecos, I would say for me that between 2.5 - 4 hours is average time. I read somewhere that this is the time it takes for your ingested food to reach the intestines.

Remember that some people don't notice contamination but it shows up as anaemia and other chronic systemic effects. There is a vast variation in symptoms.

The reaction times completely vary. I had very bad symptoms 2 days after eating the food. Or it can even start as quick as 10-15 minutes after. Take your enzymes drink lots ginger and relax

As has already been said it depends on the individual and I suppose how sensitive you are. My reaction time lag is about four hours too. I am intolerant of raw milk as well and the time lag for that is about ten minutes. And if you think that the reaction to gluten causes you to feel ill then you should try the reaction I get to milk. Painful is an understatement, terrible colic. I can understand why babies cry when they have it.

What symptoms do you guys get

Hi eecos

My symptoms start about an hour after having gluten, it begins with severe stomach cramps nausea/vomiting then hours later I start with chronic diarrhoea and that can go on until my bowel is empty. I then for 2-3 days feel extremely tired/lethargic and my arms and legs feel heavy. My stomach feels like I have been punched and the nausea goes on for a couple of days then slowly start feeling better and more like my normal self. This is why I avoid having gluten in my diet at all even cross contamination can give me symptoms although milder ones. Different people react differently and with milder symptoms. Take care Ann

I get heart palpitations really bad within about half an hour. Im then usually sick several times before the chronic diarrhoea starts. I am bloated for a couple of days and about day 4 I get the mother of all headaches, and I ache like I have the flu and I struggle with brain fog. I am usually finally over it by day 5.

If you have gluten- related RA the symptoms won't be immediate. Takes time for the autoimmune reaction to kick in. In my case 12-24 hours later. And can last for weeks
