Any chance of talking to a dietician?

This is one link on FODMAPS, you can use the search box on this page to find other posts on the subject.

I don't know how a thyroid problem would affect what kind of diet you could follow. Perhaps there are others on here who would know.

This is one link you might find useful, perhaps as a place to start.

In the absence of any professional advice, decide what kind of diet you think you could manage safely. I don't think belong meno should matter.

Good luck.

My Dr ( gastroenterologist not GP) suggested I go to see a dietician for the FODMAP information. it was apparent within 3 days that I was gluten intolerant but stayed on the (fodmap) diet for 3 weeks & started adding slowly all the other foods that can cause fermentation & other irritations to the gut. It soon became clear what I could & couldn't eat but with the help of the dietician I could still maintain a reasonably balanced diet which can be challenging when you have to omit a lot of food from yr diet like I did. Many GPs don't understand about FODMAP or glucose malabsorption & I find I have to explain stuff to them so learn as much as you can from the dietician because you will be telling others about. Good luck

You may find it worthwhile to check out autoimmune-paleo.com. The author, Mickey Trescott, has coeliac and hashimotos and has been able toresolve a lot of her symptoms through diet. There's also thepaleomom.com who has written a book called The Paleo Approach which is intended to help everyone with autoimmiune related issues. These sites have really helped me. I have RA, my father has coeliac. Cutting out grains, dairy, sugars, processed and other inflammatory foods has really helped me, as has focusing on nutrient dense foods. Best of luck.
