FYI

You and Yours on R4 did a piece on Coeliac Disease. It was in two parts - the first part was early on in the programme and the second part was the last piece. This is the link - don't know if I am allowed to do this or if it will connect. ...

Thank you Jerry - I don't know what happened to the link!

And thank you as I'd have missed it else, as I was out all morning and I've just listened to it and think that it is great that this was on the Beeb at lunch time as it spreads awareness and should help those who are diagnosed but feel that they have to convince others of their dietary needs. I note they were at Ellesmere Port and our friend Apricot was there with Wellfoods and I thought the interview with Warburtons was also interesting.

For those of you who do not want to listen to the full 55 min's there is part one near the beginning and part 2 is after 45/46 mins so you can fast forward to that.

So thanks again urbangirl as I enjoyed listening to that,

Jerry

Hi Urbangirl,

Many thanks for the heads up about the interview. They did their best to fit a lot of information into quite a short period of time; and I think that in the main they succeeded.

If I was to level any criticism at all at the interviews, it was that the opportunity to discuss NCGS was given by the presenter but it was then largely dismissed/overlooked in favour of discussing CD by the 'expert' (sorry I forget who that was - I think it was a CUK rep). A shame because I feel it is just as important to raise awareness of NCGS as well. I think this could have partly been because of time pressure and the bias towards the fact that having members with NCGS is still quite a new phenomenon to CUK.

That said, well done to the radio Four editors of You and yours. It was a good effort and to be commended overall.

Anyone wanting to listen via the link that Jerry has provided, will find the interviews at around 10mins45 and at 46 minutes into the program.

Yes Regalbirdy I thought that was a shame the opportunity to discuss NCGS was missed. The other irritation was the presenter did refer to coeliac being an allergy. Although later this was clarified later by the experts.

Hi,

I also noticed that but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt as it was rectified fairly quickly.

I guess for the wider public, the word allergy is something they can probably understand a little better. Not so long back that would've also been me!
