My son was diagnosed at 20 months, he is now 7 & 1/2 and for the past year he has had the worst eczema/dry skin (not sure what it is really - awaiting patch test from hospital) around his neck and down his sides.

Anyone elses child suffer like this?

Not sure if it's connected to coeliac disease at all, my doctor says no but... I was diagnosed at 11, and around the age of 14 I started to get acne (normal for a teenager obviously), but it did get really bad a few years ago (i'm 18 now), and although it's not as bad as it was, i still have pretty bad skin, sensitive, dry, spots etc. But like i said, the doc doesn't think it has anything to do with coeliac disease.

Hi - Mine is terrible at the minute red imflamed acne?? My doctor says it could be connected?? Prescribed acne cream and antibiotics yet again!! Which always upsets the tummy!! as do most medicines!! I am waiting to see a dermitologist at the hospital to see if they can explain the reason my skin still flares up at the age of 50!! I reckon it must be connected as its always worse after a tummy upset after having eaten something I shouldn't??

I feel for your son as a fellow lifelong eczema sufferer.

Both my specialist and GP were adamant there was no connection between diet and eczema until I went Gluten Free and proved them wrong.

Has anyone explored his diet to see if there may be something else irritating it? I know if I eat large quantities of dairy products, I get a flare p - nothing like it used to be, there is most definitely a connection,

Are you members of the eczema society? It is unlikely to help with a cure, but it will make you realise you are not alone, and sharing tips and pointers may just throw up something worth considering.

My ezcema flare ups are very much connected to my stomach flare ups. I have blistering ezcema on my legs which appears when my stomach is bad. My usual ezcema on my neck and behind my ears just comes and goes but doesn't get any worse with stomach issues. It's a minefield many times I've been told by the dr that's its dry skin, yeah right dry skin that blisters and weeps, my last flare up was shown to the dr, who said it was eczema at last after 4 years a diagnosis but again told nothing to do with my stomach flare up. Unfortunately drs don't know everything!

I suffer with extremely dry skin - terribly itchy around the ears. My feet also make an excessive amount of skin around the nails.

I also suffer from very dry hair and hair loss along with flaking, ridged nails.. The consultant recently told me that perhaps I need to put dairy back in my diet - he's also very anti that I excluded gluten after years of suffering all the symptoms - as he writes in his letters to my G.P. - my blood tests show no sign of coeliac disease (on a gluten-free diet - I ask him!!). I do think he's come to the end of ideas and is now sending me to see a dermatologist and a consultant gastroenterologist - hopefully I'll have some better luck or answers from them!

i too suffer with really dry skin, itchy at times, i did have ezecma before going gluten fee and that has cleared up, but the dry skin is really bad, my stomache gets a rash at times, my ears too which most of you have said, but the doctor doesn't seem to think there is any like either, but if we are are coeliac and all having these symptoms.......

Hi Im quite new to this site.

I have auto immune thyroid condition (hashimotos) I have acne rosasea. this came on when the thyroid failed. I am now waiting test(endo) results for coeliac/food intolerance. Its believed that there is a link between auto immune disorders and skin conditions. I've had a massive out break since christmas, its not good because its smack bang in the middle of my face and anitbiotics don't always clear it up
