My husband bought me a tassimo machine which I love but I have had had some signs of being glutened although slightly different symptoms to previous 'attacks' but I am not sure if the lattes from the machine are the culprit, it certainly doesn't happen every time but it does seem to be the common denominator
Does anyone else react to coffee pod ... - Gluten Free Guerr...
Does anyone else react to coffee pod machine drinks?
I always react to Costa coffee, also to stronger, bitter coffees. It may be that we are just tender in the tummy area, so coffees can upset us.
Somewhere, I read something about packet cappuccino and lattes, they are processed and may contain gluten.
Check out the product you are using, and maybe try another.
Strong coffee can be a laxative, I find. It can stimulate the gut muscles unfortunately!
Are you having more milk than before? From my own 'glutened' reactions, I suspect that some gluten from the milking cows' heavy cereal diet makes it through into the milk. I get DH blisters as well as gut symptoms if I have much dairy.
My huby reacts to Costa Coffee too. I wrote to Costa and they said there products do not contain gluten, but hubby feels sick et etc.
Also the dietician told him NOT to drink from the vending machines as some products contain gluten.
I can't drink coffee as it makes me throw up immediately. My stomach just can't "stomach" it. My sister gets the runs from it. We're both coeliac.
Thanks for the replies, I seem to be ok with coffee in general and made fresh in Costa or any other coffee shop it's fine. I am also ok with the coffee out of the machine at work.
Not drinking anymore milk than normal either.
Weirdly tea bags can have gluten in them so maybe the tassimo bags also have gluten?
I'm so glad I've found your post as I was browsing on the net for answers.
About a month ago, my husband also got me a Tassimo coffee pod machine and I am thinking, like you, that it this could be the common denominator.
I have IBS and I am quite sensitive to certain foods though coffee from express machines or cafés usually don't affect me.
For a few weeks now my stomach seems to blow up with anything I eat, particularly in the evening. I have these horrible cramps and I feel that the only way I can describe it is that my skin is stretching and it's so painful.
My husband keeps saying that it must the the Tassimo pods (either latte or cappuccino I normally have) as we both have the same diet and he is ok as he doesn't drink coffee?
