Coeliac Disease and TIA( Trransient Ischemic Attacks ) Connection

Hi Suzana
This topic has come up before. Hope this might be useful.
Hi Suzana, I`ve been diagnosed a coeliac for 5 years and last Dec had a `suspected` TIA. I don`t present with any of the normal stroke risk factors so the docs were scratching their heads a bit. I made it known that CD can have neurological aspects like Ataxia, but this was dismissed by the stroke and cardio consultants.
I`m now in no man`s land as my blood test found I`d had Lyme disease and this can also present like a stroke (Bell`s Palsy). I`m now on `super` asprin and statins for life which on the plus side may help reduce future risk of strokes.
Confusing world!!
Absolutely confusing, so right. I feel most of the time that Coeliac is playing with me on a daily basis; as if it is always one step ahead of me.
For over three and a half years now I struggle day in, day out. From chronic fatigue, balance problems, near constant tension headaches, slight coordination problems, vertigo during the night, in the morning, also during the day especially if I move my head up or down, memory, brain fog, days when my brain is absolutely stuck/most days. that I don't function for basic daily tasks. I am almost giving up on my brain. It feels as if it has been eaten away by gluten consumed in the past.
Recently I have experienced, I believe, a transient ischemic attack(TIA) which I am hundred percent sure was due to accidentally consumed gluten! By mistake. my toast had, realised later, come from my son's ' gluten-full' bread. The result was TIA,
However, many unexplained symptoms that I have had over the last 17 years, seem to have been connected to gluten. Fibromyalgia, weakness in muscles and joints; 'juvenile arthritis', I was told. At the age of 30. Hmmm, I wondered. Then, ' carpal syndrome' , as I couldn't hold even a glass, or coins in my hands for months.
Then, had some red blotches on my hips, swollen knees, face...and so on.
And then, when I mention that I have been gluten free for a while, there are eyebrows raised by some: " You want to lose weight?"
How little awareness about gluten is still out there! In the 'Gluten-full' world!
Hi Suzana, I have atrial fibrilation and have taken daily meds for about 3 years now which keep my heart under control. Although not a diagnosed coeliac I am gluten and lactose intolerant..
