I want to know if a person with a stage 4 glioblastoma who has had radiation therapy is capable of deciding if family members can be updated on his condition? What info can a doctor share with the personal representative if the patient objects?

Decision making of a patient with stage 4 glioblastoma
I think you might be asking a question about mental capacity? If they are in the uK yes. I am living with glioblastoma grade 4 and have had radiotherapy and chemotherapy, two surgeries and am still perfectly capable of sharing or not sharing medical information about myself. I have nominated power of attorneys if that should change.
I agree with Who-said-that and am living with the results of 2 grade 4 glioblastomas since 2010. I made a decision to not have my family informed of my condition for personal reasons. I had also nominated power of attorney to my wife, to act on my behalf, before we were married later in 2010.
At the time I was receiving radiotherapy, I was the joint executor of my late brothers will and was still able to make decisions regarding the governance of the estate.
The person you are dealing with could have reasons for not having their family informed regarding their health condition. Ultimately, it is their right to make such a decision, unless their are other grounds based on mental capacity.
