Wow, what a fantastic consultant. Ours won't entertain anything like this, let alone point you in any direction - jump on it!From looking at the Grow Pharma website, there is a list of private clinics you can (choose one and) approach for a private prescription. You fill in your details, GP details etc, upload any supporting documents to a patient portal, arrange an online consultation with them and hopefully they'll issue you with a private prescription. With a little online digging, it looks to cost around £250/ month.

I imagine they'll advise you what you need, but there is so much evidence online about the positive effects of cannabis, pain relief, depression, even tumour growth reversal, depending on the strength etc.

Our consultant shut the suggestion down at the first hurdle, but I might look into this for my husband, so thanks for sharing 🙏

thanks for your response :-) my husband is being treated in the NHS (currently midway through 6 weeks of chemoradiation), but in addition we went separately for a private consultation with a brain cancer specialist, who made a few interesting suggestions, including recommending CBD oil, and also adding vit D supplements. Our NHS oncologist said he is not able to recommend them (i.e. there is no compelling evidence from his pov) and could not help advise me how/where to buy, but that it is fine for my husband to take them. i will investigate the CBD oil further! (other things on my list to investigate are sertraline and atorvastatin, if that is helpful to you)

It is helpful, thank you. We've just started on the Care Oncology protocol, which is the Atorvastatin, Metformin, Mebendazole and eventually Doxycycline. He takes sertraline for depression.

Supplements to research are Curcumin, Lions Mane, Boswellia, Reservatrol, Berberine, the Omegas. I find British Supplements to be a reliable place to source from.

Would you be happy to share the private consultant you used? We like forward thinking people. I think the NHS have to be very careful of our litigious culture, so don't recommend anything...

Hello there, I haven’t been on here a while but my father had a very fast moving GB4 at 79 years old diagnosed in August 21. I did more research and digging than was probably healthy with my time and I found two things were very useful for him. Due to his age and the quick return after the operation we stopped conventional treatments and used a combination of fluoxetine (Prozac), which we found was easily prescribed by the GP and has shown in early trials in the US to have good effects on the tumour, and inhaled CBD. The inhalation part I believe is important as it promotes easier access to the brain. We used a fairly high strength one via Koi CBD. I truly believe this kept my dad pain free at home and prolonged his life by at least 6 months. He was also bed bound at this time so believe if we had started earlier the effects would have been even greater. Sadly he started getting bed sores and infections and we decided to take down his steroid dosage but he did remarkably well! I hope this helps a little. Best, James

Hello and thanks for your post.

Whilst we cannot recommend any particular treatments or alternative/complimentary therapies, we do have a good information page explaining Cannabis derivatives here: thebraintumourcharity.org/b...

The Cancer Research webpage also has useful breakdown on Canabinoids and explains these with regards to evidence of their effectiveness: news.cancerresearchuk.org/2... I hope this helps in terms of further information.

Warm wishes, the Support Team.

My husband has been using cbd which we buy from here honestcbdco.com/product/cbd... I think it's the strongest we've found.

He is taking 600mg per day and this is how the dose is worked out. Information taken from my correspondence with the company "85% CBD, each 1ml of distillate contains 850mg of CBD. An easy way of working it out I always find is that if it were to be 100%, it would be pure CBD, so each 1000mg would be 1000mg CBD. So If he's aiming for 600mg per day, I would say 0.7ml is about bang on, each 0.1ml of distillate contains 85mg CBD, so 7 x 85mg = 595mg CBD, which is close enough"
