headaches with latanoprost?

hello!

I am wondering if anyone else is getting headaches with latanoprost drops?

I Seem to be getting headaches at the end of the night - almost as if lying down too long was causing this- it seems to have started with me taking the drops so I wondered if anyone else has experienced this?

I am feeling a bit trapped as if I don’t use the drops I feel I am taking a risk with my sight going down and if I do I don’t feel very well… unless of course it has nothing to do with the drops… which is hard to know .

The doctors are taking ages to give me a follow up appointment, it seems very hard to communicate with them so I’m feeling a little lost ( only got diagnosed in august last year) .

Anyway sorry for venting 😉

But thank you for your support and shared experience!

there was a similar “wondering” past few days about people experience headaches on waking with Monopost. I certainly know that feeling on having to take one drop at night of Monopost in both eyes! I had to give in and start taking the drops after second laser treatment, didn’t lower the pressures enough, maybe I’m biased to thinking it is as I hate taking any medication. But can endure the challenge it if it means I don’t loose my sight.

YES! I mentioned this to my doctor and she said I was just adjusting to the drops. The headaches have subsided now that I have been on the drops for 3 months.

Hello. Yes headaches can be a side effect of latanoprost. If you are not already doing so, when you use your eye drop you can gently close your eye and place your finger on your tear duct for 1-2 minutes. This can keep the eye drop contained to the eye and stop it from running down your throat and entering the bloodstream. This is called punctal occlusion, and for some people it can stop the severity of their side effects. If you feel like you are unable to continue using these drops due to side effects, be sure to call the eye secretary ahead of your appointment.
