Did my first workout after my op this morning. Im only allowed to do cardio on a bike for now and hopefully in a months time i can back to some strength workouts. When i tell people about what comes with glaucoma surgery they are surprised at how much recovery is needed and i was surprised too. Ive had a retina detachment in the 2012 and that was a long recovery then i had cataract surgery and that was a quick two week recovery. I have to be careful not to do too much as ive got another check op in two weeks and i dont want to put my recovery back, but its great to feel like everything is going the right way. thanks everyone for the support and im hoping with this post it will be some help to someone else😀😀
First workout: Did my first workout after my op... - Glaucoma UK
First workout
it’s so frustrating when you are used to the gym and you can’t do any strength workouts. I’ve had two trabs and for both I left it six weeks before starting back with doing weights. Even after then I did feel a bit dizzy sometimes when I did something quickly or my head was in a low position. Just listen to your body and stop if anything doesn’t feel right. It will be worth it in the end.
During the first six weeKs i had to have it needled twice and all the releasable stitches were taken out by the fourth visit. I think it put me back but on friday the surgeon finally told me i could do cardio. I think he has said wait another month as the eye that has been operated on is the only eye i have any sight left.
That is better news for you.How long overall would you say your recovery has been after the presaflow implant could you drive again and work etc? Good luck now moving forward.
I’m not allowed to drive as I’m partially sighted. So that is not an issue for me. It was eight weeks on Friday and I’m still on fortnightly check ups. The surgeon has said that if I have to have it needled again it will have to be done in the operating theatre. I will see him in two weeks so I will find out how things are after being given the go ahead for cardio workouts. I think everyone’s recovery is different.
That’s good news Angel5454, it has helped me to follow your recovery path, each one is different but I know I’ll miss exercising and swimming when I’m recovering post op.
I felt exactly the same way but always better to listen to the surgeon and not to put your more risk by going into exercise to soon after the I’m glad that I can go and do a bit cycling and in a month, classes But I will always put my eyesight first so if my surgeon says to me another month on top, then I will go with what he says You will be fine and it will get better as everybody’s always said to me and starting to get better for me even though I can’t read or anything anymore. There are other via audiobooks and technology on your phone to read things for you. Things always get better in the end but sometimes it take longer for certain people take care look after yourself.
