I finished the portrait of Rusty today, even though I woke with a very blurry eye- thank goodness my left eye is so good-. I feel re-assured that I can still paint, but I got really stressed out about it today and had a migraine. Thanks for the supportive comments, I really appreciate them.

stunning painting 🖼️!You are super talented Justin….
I really appreciate other people’s postings of their experiences on this forum as it does reassure and sometimes scare me about what the scary journey having glaucoma is! I have lost 99 & 95 % peripheral vision and have pressures of 15 and 14 at the last consultation which I was super pleased with but my consultant is still recommending trabalectomy but I’m so scared both the operation and recovery as I need to work and having already lost my driving licence rely on cycling everywhere and don’t want to lose total independence! I play sports too so it it all seems so daunting! I’ve had laser and have to put drops in 4 times a day but I despite knowing surgery is inevitable… I keep deferring!!! My vision has also become blurred … is this normal ? Thank you everyone for all the helpful comments and it’s good to know that others are or have experienced everything too.
Hi Ricecakesaddict,
The thing that made me decide to go ahead with a trabulectomy was that I knew it was the only chance I had of saving my existing vision. The operation itself is not problematic as you are well anaesthetised. It does take time for the consultant to get the right drainage effect from the ‘bleb’ he or she creates in your eye. Just take things one step at a time and do use the skills of the professionals. Best wishes
I think you’ve just assured a lot of people that life and talents go on. What a brilliant painting! Such a lovely, dog, too!
Ohh wow, that us a beautiful portrait. You are very talented. Long may it continue.
What a beautiful painting. You are a very talented artist. A wonderful way to show that glaucoma does not always stop people from enjoying what they love to do.
Thank you for sharing.
What a fabulous painting. 👏👏
Fabulous
Beautiful painting. You have a real talent. I also had a trabeculectomy on 16fh September. My vision is still very blurry. I hope it improves by 18th November when I am due to have my other eye done!
